Can anyone answer this? Lead amp versus bass amp.

ok ive seen an amp on ebay, its a sound city b100w head. Its hard to find info on it. I know pete towshend and various others used l100w heads for lead guitar.

I was wondering if it makes a difference playing lead guitar through a b100w. The main(and probably only) difference between the l100 and b100 is three capacitators on the circuit board. Will a guitar sound **** through it or will the difference be un-noticable?

Will the b100 be less responsive in the mid range?

really? maybe i could get some kind of mod done on it and change the capactitators?

    Anyone know anything about that?

No it'll sound great probably. Yer man from Incubus used an old Marshall bass head live and his tone is sweet. You mightn't get as much high end but i'd say that the midrange and bass will be a bit warmer.

Ever hear of a Fender Bassman? That said, you're probably just better off using a guitar amp.

If you find the amp is not quite right for guitar, it's a simple matter to have someone replace those three caps if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. I'd happily do it for you. However, you'll find that the amp, despite being considered a bass amp back in its era, has more in common with a modern guitar amp than a modern bass amp.
