I have never put a bet on a horse before, but am going to do so tomorrow. I would be interested in hearing a few tips if anyone has any, please do let me know. I take it the bookies will be open tomorrow, won't it?

Enjoyable Gold Cup. Even though I made a nice profit on the race with WoA, I was cheering on Hedgehunter the whole way. Disappointed he couldn't do it.

Anyway, for those in the competition, the current scores with 3 races left are...

    Pos Name Score
    1 Crumbs 73.50
    2 Chonaic 72.25
    3 leef23 46.25
    4 chump 41.00
    5 Fr Wishy Washy 40.50
    6 eirebhoy 30.42
    7 Bluetonic 23.50
    8 decies 23.50
    9 scargill 20.75
    10 Corben Dallas 7.75
    11 wbailey 6.50
    12 Hobart 5.88
    13 the jock 5.75
    14 iloveireland 1.50
    15 Pighead -4.50
    16 finnpark -14.13
    17 ziggy67 -16.50
    18 clusk007 -30.00
    19 sjones -31.00
    20 fade2black -39.00
    21 masterK -39.00
    22 [nicK] -41.00
    23 Davey Devil -45.25
    24 Healio -50.50

I just wanted to show that with my name at number 1 because it probably won't last out to the end of the day! :p

    Good luck.

It comes down to different interpretations of NAP'ing and SNAP'ing the same horse. You could well be correct but don't worry, we'll sort it all out in a fair manner later. I'm off to watch the last two races now. Tiger Cry and Studmaster to finish a great week for Irish raiders!

I was given a tip this morning by a friend of mine over at Cheltenham for First Down Jets. Finished second at 66/1 as we all know. Only had 5 e/w on it as I really didn't expect it to come anywhere. It ran a great race, one to watch in the future.

complete novice, only ended up betting around €60 over the 4 days.

    €38 won.

watching at home, so wasn't expecting coveraged to be stopped at 4.

managed to find some live feed online, couple of chicks with a digi cam.

    good craic.

The best day of the week for me and I got back previous losses with 4 winners today. Thank God it's over though. Backed Ruby to be top jockey so just have to wait and see if that comes true..

I had 5 out of 6 in the placepot today which would have paid over €2,700.
Feckin' amateur jockeys and their feckin' foxhunter race!

Same story yesterday. Had 5/6 when it paid over €900. Didn't get to do one on the first two days but there's definitely good value in them at this type of meeting. Anyone crack a placepot this week?

Closest I came was on Wednesday. Inch Pride let me down. Paid over 2 grand that day.

i know its only small change compared to you serious gamblers but initial outlay of 50 euro reaped over 250...not too bad

    got 1st 2nd 4th in gold cup and 1st in 5.20

I went along with my selections for the competion except didnt back thursday.
basically i did 18 5 euro win bets on every race.
I just had four winners for the meeting.
    Brave Inca.
    Native Jack
    Skys the Limit
    Black jack Kitchum
I still managed to come out with a profit of 16.25 for the week plus a winning contribution for the head to head of 50 euro from Davey Devil.
Got my moneys worth if nothing else:)
Wished id backed War of attrition rather than beef or Salmon thats for sure:rolleyes:

    What a day!!!

Had 50 ew on Fair Along at 25/1. Was so disappointed he didn't win, let it ride on BJK. Collected 762.5 (private bookie in pub) for my efforts. Happy days. WOA then crowned it and my Betfair a/c was up by over 4k. Went on piss and didn't bother backing any more (would have been all losers). After 3 totally miserable days, I've ended up with a gr8 Cheltenham for once. Clan Royal now for Grand National and I will be a very happy man!
