Ars Technica have a good write up on it.

The actual site is being hammered into oblivion at the moment but I had been reading the threads and basically it works, you hold down a key on startup and can switch between booting OSX or XP though for the install procedure I saw mentioned that you will have to wipe any existing install of OSX on the system because of the partition resizing.

Driver wise they have chipset, ethernet, wireless and sound working no bluetooth drivers yet but that shouldn't be too hard to track down. Graphics card drivers are another matter the X1600 inside the Intel Macs is a mobile part and so far even the modded ATI drivers currently available don't work either at all or in the Omega drivers case install but the UI is still sluggish.

I'm confident they will work it out eventually though, if they can write an EFI/bios wrapper they should be able to nail down the graphics problem.

While this is interesting to see XP booting on a Mac, it makes me think of an analogy something along the lines of taking the engine out of a Ferrari and replacing it with the engine from a Fiat Punto..

Yeah.. why... how about OSX on a PC?

better off running emulation software and installing XP in there so you can run windows apps from within MACOS

Because believe it or not their are applications not available under OSX that can only be run under Windows and where emulation even on an Intel mac simply isn't desirable another is games where emulation cannot work & finally because "you can" is better than no option at all.

As for OSX on a normal PC that has already been done, it is messy to do but with the right hardware you can get it running if you really want too, I suggest checking out http://www.osx86project.org/ and take it from there.

Well irrespective of the pros and cons of OS-X and XP, now that Apple have made the transition to Intel processors, I'm hoping they see the light and release their future OS's for PC's and Macs alike.

    Slashdot.org story for it:
"According to winxponmac.com, the contest has been won - nearly $14k to narf2006 for submitting a working solution to dual-booting Windows XP and Mac OS X on an Intel-Powered mac. A thread on osx86project.org has confirmations from several testers that the procedure works on the 17" iMac, the Mac mini, and the MacBook Pro. Many sets of pictures and videos (such as this installation video) are floating around (and mentioned in the thread). The solution itself should be posted soon." Poit! Congratulations to narf.

"Sure, we all know that Windows can now run on intel Apple Computers. Alas, the solution does not include drivers, and until now Mac users could still only hope to be able to use every application available to their Windows counterparts. However, with drivers now working 100% on the Mac Mini and drivers for the MacBook Pro only lacking video (which, by the looks of the 2nd link is only days away), Mac users now have a complete and working Windows solution."
