Why can't I pick good earphones/headphones???

So I'm just after buying these Sony earphones. I quite disappointed to be honest and think I may have just wasted €50. The sound is great but they have to sit right in your ear canal which I find find kind of uncomfortable. Also the main thing that attracted me was the clip on style. They don't even clip! They just sort of hover on your ear and fall off. Trying to cycle with them was a nightmare, kept falling out etc. I did read a few reviews of these headphones before I bought them and there was a few people saying they didn't fit properly but the good outweighed the bad and I went for them. I'm an idiot, should of known these in-ear wouldn't have suited because any others I've ever had didnt work out either

I bought another set of headphones from the Sony center about a year ago. When I got home I put them on and straight away I realised they were very uncomfortable to wear. Put them straight back in the box and went back to the Sony center only to be told headphones/earphones cannot be replaced unless faulty. They cost €60  .

    So two questions.
Can I get some sort of exchange for my new earphones(Surely theres something in consumer rights about this?)
Can anyone recommend good earphones for cycling/running preferably not 'in-ear' (I'm willing to spend to whatever it takes ;) )

Just looking at Cormie's thread here and saw these earphones but there no mention of make. Definitely what I need, any ideas what they are or of similar models?

Well, you can have a look at my Shure E2G's on Monday. They're in ear but they are quality! Possibly dangerous for cycling though cos they kill external noise.

My ears just arent suited for them

Yeah ditto, they're a pain in the ass... er... I mean, ears. They just fall out all the time unless I jam em all the way in, which I'm loathe to do cos it's uncomfortable and our ears just ain't sposed to hav stuff shoved all the way into the ear canal...

I really need a new pair of headphones too, dunno what'd suit me tho - like yourself I've been done too many times in the past my cr*p aquisitions that I couldn't then return...

I dont know about those Sony ones, but my Panasonic ones come with bigger and smaller buds so you can switch them until you find comfortable ones that'll stay in your ear.

They're much better than most, although they do cut out a lot of external noise, so probably not ideal for use when cycling anyway.

Until you try a pair of Shures, I wouldn't pass final judgement on in ear phones. They are very comfortable, never fall out and have great sound. I suppose no earphones are good for cycling, but with Shure you can have the volume low and you'll hear the song just as well but you'll also be able to hear traffic rather than the possibility of you having a normal pair on full volume.

I'm not too sure about how bad it is to have in ears in your ear canal so I can't comment on that, I'd like to know so if there is any legit website with info on it, please share:)

I'm not sure of anywhere that sells them, be prepared tobe ripped off if you get them in Dublin though, aha, haha, see what I mean? So they are about 70% cheaper online:eek:

Any suggestions for cheap and reliable online retailers?
Most of the sites with good prices I could find were American, haven't bought anything online from America so not too sure about them?

I bought the same set as the original poster and am not too happy with them either. I wanted a pair for going jogging/running with and what I really wanted was a pair of regular earphones but with a clip or something that would stop them falling off when jogging.

Anyone know of a pair or even an attachment to hook onto regular earphone buds?

earphones. They have a set with spongy earpieces that you squeeze and insert in your ear. Great sound and very comfortable. Very inexpensive too....definitely worth it...
