...not the national drinking holiday, but the phrase 'Paddy's Day'.

It's 'Saint Patrick's Day'. Surely noone here is that familiar with him?

I thought it was called "Pat's Day"

Listen Con(may I call you Con), Paddys Day rolls much easier off the tongue than Saint Patrick, just like Santa Claus and Bertie. Stop trying to make live more difficult for poor Pighead. Let it be buddy.

Paddy's Day makes far more sense as it's now a celebration of the Irish people (or Paddy's as we were known throughout the world for years) instead of an antiquated religious feast day for some over-hyped delusional.

    Leave Paddy's day alone!

    Happy Paddy's Eve everyone!

Yes, but not a term used in a complimentary fashion very often either. I mean, if a Cockney walked into your local and shouted ''allo Paddies' would he be welcomed or beaten?

'Paddies', like the word 'Micks', was often used in close connection with words like 'thick' or 'drunk'.

I know, to relieve the tedium why don't you tell us all about your sagems
    I have
    Sagem myx5-2 (pwo)
Sagem myx5-2 (not working, speaker is broke)
Nokia 3200 (i presume it works, it did when i got it but haven't charged it since)
    128mb Sony Memory Stick Duo
    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054899384

I can throw in some DVDs or PS2 games aswell

What colour is the Nokia? Could it be black? Could it be grey? Will the sagem broken speaker get fixed? What are those ps2 games you tease us with?

Life in your head would be just too gosh darn exciting for me, leave me with the boring stuff...

But its the wrong time of the year.

Lets get Pope Benny to move it to.... May or June, so we can see majorettes in bands show off all their skills (and not have to wear rain macs when whrilling batons)

You don't know me, FI. This is not real social interaction, repeat, this is not real social interaction. You can't form rounded opinions from ramblings in cyberspace, so drop the personal stuff, count to 10, and post again...

I agree that it was/can be used as a derogatory term towards us, but I like to think that we've recalimed the description as our own. "You want to insult us by calling us that? OK then, we'll call ourselves that."
