Spring Break, Extra Study time!

    Woo!!!

On a serious note: yesterday was a jf bess class porty. After leaving a drinks reception in the atrium (which was good) we all went to the pav where they wouldn't serve us! Are the pav trying to lose money or something? it's their loss anyway (and Doyles was 7 billion times better). Just thought I'd throw that out there. Anyway happy spring break!

Why wouldn't they serve you? Were you already drunk?

Never heard it called that before? Are we in america and visiting florida? Will people be dancing on the beach on mtv all around us?

/me tries to hold back more exam-time grumbling?

Odd that they wouldn't serve you. What time was it? Did you have student ID and age ID? I know all the staff like. Did you say "we just came from the bess porty loike". Cos then they might not serve ya, they tend to hate that type from my experience...

Only time I've not got served (actually wasn't allowed in) was the time of the "buckfast challenge" back in first year. When about 40 of us came out from that wooden building beside aras an phiarsig absolutely pissed as flutes... It took about 10 mins for this mob to make it the front of the pav and we took a shortcut through the rugby pitch! On this memorable journey I personally got stuck in the bushes no less than twice and was involved in numerous "pile-ons" and wrestling bouts with absolute strangers. The pav staff were standing outside the building just waving us away and asking us where we'd come from that we got so pissed..

Safe to say there hasn't been another buckfast challenge since.. unfortunate really

It is techincially spring break - spring time + break time. Nobody was too pissed with a few exceptions. we got searched coming in, it was really weird. What's a buckfast challenge? it's sounds good!

I'm an engineer, I think spring break is a mode of failure

(Okay, I stole that from a thread I read in humour. That I found while searching boards for "slide rule")

As an Engineer, you should know spring break isn't a mode of failure. and btw it's not spring break, thats a yanky term.

Let's see. 150-200 BESS (read: loud) freshers who had clearly already been drinking (some more so than others) arrive in a huge crowd at once, and you're surprised that the Pav staff weren't welcoming you with open arms? By the time people had regrouped and headed over to Doyles the crowd had thinned out a lot, so it seemed like less of an invasion. Also, Doyles has a much larger capacity.

The Pav probably saw all the blonde spiked mohawks and the general orange shade of the gaggle of saps that is JF BESS, and thought "We ain't listening to their ****, even if we're getting paid". At least that's what I'd do.

I hope the Bess exams went well for all JF and SFers. Blah. Roll on June.

Dunno about pension exams, but it's about this time of year that they round up all the old hacks and dispose of them to make way for fresh blood. You should be glad you're in the safety of the exam hall. It's a dangerous time for your kind.

Oh, he isn't that old, is he?

No. But it's a hack-eat-hack world, and there are plenty of youngsters snapping at his heels. Now he feels the pain of mortality. Out, out brief candle!

Oh, schols are making you narky, aren't they?

He hit me with a bottle the other day outside the exam hall, but I took it as a compliment as I knew I had gotten to him. :D

If things had been a bit different, I might have been a hack...

    *sighs wistfully*

Nah, sorry. Was only playin' with ya :). I let the "when I joined TCDSU" one go, so I couldn't let it be two in a row.

In fairness Ronan I was waiting outside the Exam Hall for my first exam of Schols. I'd probably have punched the ground if it was wet. The dig was for distracting me from my focus which I needed to keep!

Oh and Cuckoo's right about the me being narky thing, just not in that instance. If you want any more compliments there are plenty in inventory :).

I'm going to hang, mission-impossible-style, from the ceiling of the exam hall, and call you a hack nonstop in your next exam, and throw slices of ham at you. It'll be deadly craic.

Bad hack! :p Get with the rhetoric, and remember that each capitated student is a member of the SU, which however is not strictly a union, but should be considered a service provider.

Liouville, i'm also picturing that. Pet, i'm going to be a very dissappointed pensioner if i don't see a news report about it in the next issue of TN.

He tried to hit me with a very thick looking book in the library on Tuesday, though i was given a choice, to read it or to be hit with it.

I think my level of success with that "joke" is proof that I'm an engineer. That and the slide rule.

John2 - need a winchman? I'm very very bored these days, I might as well waste my time by helping to annoy hacks
