Wayne Mardle has won his first tour title since september 2004 after he won the JR & Vauxhall Norfolk Open. It has finally put an end to a long time for Mardle without a win.

Mardle Takes Vauxhall Title

WAYNE MARDLE picked up his first tournament victory of 2006 with a 5-2 win over Barrie Bates in the final of the JR & Vauxhall Norfolk Open on Sunday.

The world number four has not won an event since September 2004 - although he did lose in two finals to Phil Taylor last year - but broke that run in Great Yarmouth.

He won his semi-final in comfortable fashion against Trevor Ellacott before subjecting Bates to a second successive final defeat.

Mardle - whose book looking at life on the PDC circuit in 2005 is now available - took out a 126 finish to complete the 5-2 triumph.

Bates, who reached the final of last weekend's Budweiser UK Open Southern Regional Final, overcame Colin Osborne 4-2 in their last four contest.
