Alright, I've asked this before, but is there anyone in Galway? C'mon people, it'd be fun!

I'm a guitarist who's mainly into Metal and Rock, with some Jazz thrown in there. So anything from Opeth to Rush to Mahavishnu Orchestra. So would anyone be interested in at the very least having a bit of a jam and seeing what comes out? I'd really like to get some experience of playing in a band, so if you'd be interested in just having a jam, or would like to form a serious band, 'cmon!

    Hmmm....
I'm from Galway and would have thought you'd easily find people to jam with around Galway by just sticking up posters for 'musicians wanted' in the music shops and in the forge considering that i'd say the majority of musicians (well the youngins anyway) are into metal.

You see I'm pretty much a pure jazz man really and thus have pretty much noone to jam with let alone talk to about music!

I'd certainly be interested in the Mahavishnu side of the influences you stated but metal isn't really my thing, so i can't say i'd be the best bet for what you want - two guitarists in a fusion band can't really work either! But hey if you're really enthusiatic and perstistant i might be interested just for the fun of it anyway!

Well, if you're up for it, lets jam at some stage. Could be great to expand my musical horizons, eh?

I'm from Galway too, I play bass & a wee bit of piano & guitar, self-taught so not exactly a theory expert :P I'm open-minded musically but, to give an idea of influences, some of my favourite bands are Radiohead, Sigur Rós, The Mars Volta etc.

They should do some sort of sticky on this forum for musicians from different areas, ie to get on the stickied list you PM the mod with the name, location & instruments played; interested parties could then check your profile for influences etc & PM you if they'd like to jam. That way people could see their neighbouring musicians & get in touch. I'm rambling, aren't I... :o

So, do you want to Jam at some stage, Yv? Got myself and Shatner there on guitar, and you on bass, that could work out to be something interesting.
