    Hi I asked a very specific question in the Pro Ev thread, but thought you might be better able to help me here, thanks here it is;
    Hi I have a wireless home internet connection at home, based on Ntl Starter and then a netgear router, but when I try to connect I get this error message;

    "Unable to transmit using UDP port 5730.
    You may need to connect directly to the internet or adjust you connection device ie. router settings etc.
    Assign DMZ, Port Mapping, Configure NAT table and other router settings to the console"

    Does anyone have any clue as to what I can do? I have been wating for months to play online and would be really dissapointed if I cant get it to work.

    Presumably you have to set up port mapping in your router. To do this, open your browser, and point to your router (probably http://192.168.0.1). You'll find a page entitled "port forwarding" - in this, tell it that your machine's IP address wants to use port 5730 on UDP (you'll probably have a choice of UDP or TCP or both). To get your IP address, open a command shell (Start ... Run ... type "CMD") and type "ipconfig" and hit enter. It will tell you your assigned IP address.

    that's not working.

    (the page is taking too long to respond) I tried for both IE and Firefox, is it because I am wirelessly connected?

    EDIT: would it be easier if I connected my laptop directly to Ntl router? through an ethernet cable rather than wirelessly through netgear router?

    Try

    http://www.portforward.com/

    Should help ya setting up most routers

    Also a wored connection will be stronger and reduce your pings when playing online hence faster response times!!!

    Hopes this helps

    I can't get that to work whenever I enter http://192.168.1.2 on the adress bar, teh page fails to load, I ahve experimented also with the same adress but ending in 1/2/4/5.

    this is both before and after i set up a static ip adress,

    also if it worked and i got to the username and password, log in (which i haven't) I have no idea what tehse are, where to find them or how to get them.

    Anyone any ideas.

    To find out your routers IP chances are its your default gateway to find this Click START > RUN - Type CMD, Click OK. Type Ipconfig and then attempt to open the gateway ip in your brower. Try both http:// & https:// . If you do not know the login details then google for the manual for your router and the defaults will more than likely be listed. Let us know how you get on.
