Hi there, I have recently moved into a house in wicklow. There is a fixed dish on the roof, and an broken grundig sky digi box. Was thinking of buying a fta receiver. Do you reckon its o.k to go and buy one and stick the cable for the dish into it, since the previous occupant was paying for sky, (something i don't want to do), should i receive channels? Is it as easy as that?

    Ta,
P.S. Thanks watty for helping me find out my digibox was, eh, "cattle trucked".

If the dish is working as it should then yes its as easy as connecting a receiver and scanning in BBC ITv etc

If you buy a Sky Digibox, Second Hand or New plus a FTV Card, I STRESS FTV, Free to View card from the uk, easily bought on ebay for circa e50 you will also be able to get CH4, CH5, SKY3 now and Film4 from july 06. These channels at present are only available with Sky Digibox,Circa E100, AND FTV card.

My pleasure, "give credits" idea is also worth considering if you would like the extra channels he/she mentions and the program guide is easy to use on digiboxes

I have to say I'm looking foward to film four even with the adds.
It will more than make up for the loss of TCM-though that was also good.
