Ruling Q

I was playing at a table the other night when some guy got dealt 3 cards instead of two but it was impossible for him to know as two of em were stuck together.

Now this guy never touched his cards till the action came around to him and obsserved the table play patiently. When he noticed he had 3 cards he informed the dealer but the dealer pointed out that because an action had taken place (some guy in Ep bet) that this guys hand was now dead and the hand continues without him.

But if the guy declared he had 3 cards before the other guy made a move then the dealer would redeal.

Found this quite strange as i always considered it to be a dealer error and a misdeal occurs but it turns out the player is at fault for not checking immediately that he has 2 cards.Just wondering what ppls views are on this?

He was lucky he noticed when he did, if he had got involved and it had gone to a showdown he would have lost the pot.

This 'guy' wouldn't post on boards under the name of 'ChipLdr' would he?;)

Unlucky last night btw although I think I would have folded AK on that board given the player in question had played a pot in about an hour and a half. Although in those games most of the player could have QQ there and still be stacked.

Also regarding the ruling, once significant action has taken place, i.e. a raise and a call; the hand must be played out and your hand must be dead.

He he it could be me alright. With the hand against that guy I even said to myself this guy is as tight as anything but i just simply couldnt fold out of exhaustion, tiredness e.t.c Worked my way back up well only to piss it all away.Stupid raise at the end to finish my night off with a wimper.

How'd you finish up?I loved your runner runner 7 with the J7 against the TT

    Hey I flopped a 7 and rivered one.:p
I loved that tools logic. He pushes all in saying: "I knew you didn't have a King or Queen", so he pushes all in knowing I can't call him without a hand that beats him.

I made about €700ish in the end. I was happy enough with that considerring how card dead I was at the start of the night. My favourite hand was the 68 of diamonds where I raised to 7 in MP, player two places to your right (known maniac from the 100 omaha) re-raises to 25, I call(we both have over 750 behind). Flop is A34r, we both check. Turn is a 5, I bet 45, he calls. River is a Jack, I bet about 90 and he throws QQ up in disgust lol. Was so tempted to show there.

Yes, you can lose out due to a dealer error.
