Wow man......hard to believe it only cost 200,000 dollars to pay all the fighters.

In all fairness Wand must get that for sitting in the crowd at a Pride event!

Tom Murphy - $5,000 to show $5,000 to win. Total $10,000
    Icho Laurenas - $3,000

Josh Lambert - $2,000 to show $2,000 to win. Total $4,000
    Rob McDonald - $5,000

Sam Stout - $2,000 to show $2,000 to win. Total $4,000
    Spencer Fisher - $8,000

Mark Hominick - $2,000 to show $2,000 to win. Total $4,000
    Yves Edwards - $8,000

Nathan Marquart - $15,000 to show $15,000 to win. Total $30,000
    Joe Doerkson - $5,000

George St Pierre - $24,000 to show $24,000 to win. $48,000
    B.J. Penn - $25,000

Mike Swick - $5,000 to show $5,000 to win. $10,000
    Seve Vigneault - $2,000

Rich Franklin - $16,000 to show $16,000 to win. $34,000
    David Loiseau - $9,000

I'd say Sam Stout and Mark Hominick are due a pay rise...

Weird that GSP should earn a lot more than Franklin for his fight.

Granted, the GSP Vs Penn match was the more talked about, but Rich is the Champ and his fight was headlining after all.

Rich may have been headlining but I was tuning in to see GSP fight. Bring on the Matt Huges rematch :)

Overall I can't believe how little they are being paid. Its shocking. How can these guys afford to be pro fighters?

It keeps them fighting regularly I reckon. Pay them too much and they might only fight once or twice a year. Also, Zuffa are the only show in town.

Indeed, because they keep suing the other Promotions!!! :D

All in all though, you'd think that GSP , Hughes, Franklin, Arlovski would all be swamped with offers from k1 , Pride etc.

Or maybe the just don't like the idea of headstomps? ;)

How do you think the likes of Hughes, Franklin would get on in K1? I'd say they'd be murdered...

Has Chuck Liddel fought much K1?

I don't know, i think it would take them a few fights to get used to the rule sets, same as anything else.

All in all, i don'tt hink people gives Hughes or Franklin enough credit. Hughes is a beast and he just won't stop. Franklin seems to be getting better all the time.

I think they might do alright.

For the mistakes he has made Dana still brought UFC back from the brink of going broke. Remember, UFC, despite popular believe has only been making any real money for the last year or so.

Give it time and the wages will go up, once Dana finds his roots again.

I think you have too much faith in the dark one.

Anyone have the purses from the last Pride event to compare?

Rich Franklin - $16,000 to show $16,000 to win. $34,000

    16 + 16 = 32

These are way lower than I thought. Paying them $2,000 is unreal.

    $2000  !!!!!!
That's only about €1600, I thought fighters at events here eg. Bushido would get more than that, never mind in the UFC.

I wouldn't get into a ring for that much, my medical bills alone would be more than that after I got the stuffing* knocked out of me.
(*I hate having to keep my language clean):(

I know all fighters have to start off somewhere, make a name for themselves then they can get the big paydays but $2000 is scandalous.

How can the seriously afford to fight professionally?
No wonder there's only 2 guys from SBG fighting professionally.

Rich is in a multi fight contract with ufc that he signed before he won the belt he wont get a rise till that runs out I think he gets more every fight. GSP just signed a better contract, when rich gets a new one he will surly get more than GSP but thats only if he keeps his belt. In saying that 34k is enough to keep you going for the year and he fights a good bit and gets sponser money so he isnt exactly broke but I do pitty the less known fighters getting a few grand thats gotta be hard.
