PCI slots problem - computer wont boot now

    Hi folks,
I have a bit of a problem. I got a firewire card for my comp, and tried installing it into one of the free PCI slots. However, the card was slightly off and would not slot in correctly. Just to make sure of this I took other cards out of other slots, tried it in that etc etc, but it was the same result. Now, I probably ended up putting different cards back into different slots. Silly me did not think of marking down what slot was from where.

Went back to Peats, got a new card, opened up comp (in the mean time I had'nt attempted to turn the computer back on), and put in the new card. Went to boot up. But the monitor did not kick in to action, even though the computer was running. I tried connecting the monitor to my laptop to make sure it wasnt the monitor, and it worked fine on my laptop.

So, long story short I've no idea what Im after doing! :(

Oh yeah, when I was trying to put in the dodgy card it was really hard to pull back out of the slot and I really had to reef it out. Nothing seemed to break when doing this but just thought I should mention it. And even the new card seemed very stiff to put into the slot.

    Any help much much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Cian

Integrated or add-on video (ie. is it a removable card, if so remove all other cards and reseat it). Disconnect your IDE cables from the motherboard, if it still won't boot clear the CMOS (usually a jumper, check the motherboard manual and it will tell you how). This covers the most likely causes but if they fail reseat your CPU and ram also. Still no luck? Get hold of another video card to test in case you accidentally damaged it. Still the CMOS or a dodgy IDE cable/seating is the most likely.
