I might be behind the curve a little here, but I watched the (new?) series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks on bbc2 last night. It was okay, but not the same without Lamarr. Where's he at?

I missed it. Going to watch the repeat on Saturday at 23.55.
Regular host Mark Lamarr is taking a well-earned break from presenting the show after ten years.

The line up of guest presenters taking hold of the reigns and in charge of the banter includes Jonathan Ross, Jeremy Clarkson, Dale Winton, Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Huey Morgan of The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Simon Amstell and Lauren Laverne.
    Link.

Clarkson and maybe Huey should be fun.

Is it repeated later in week?

Ah, that's what I was looking for, thanks.

I don't like this guest host thing at all. Looking at the HIGNFY guest host shows, I jsut think they're a pale imitation of the originals. Ross was good (and like you say Huey should be good fun - he was great as a guest) but it wasn't Never Mind The Buzzcocks, it was Generic Music Quiz with Jonathan Ross.

That show never recovered from Sean Hughes leaving it imho.

That coupled with Lamarr turning into one of TV's biggest knob jockey's. Granted he was still quite funny, but he turned quite arrogant towards the end.

Clarkson - ha ha ha, that'll be funny....
Didn't realise the show was back on but I'm glad I missed the Ross one, I'm fed up with him turning up on every show making innuendos at every available opportunity.

Lol at least he made a Westlife joke :D essential part of the program.

Bill Bailey has been much funnier than Sean Hughes
maybe they should've got Hughes in to present it while Lamarr is away.

Yeah Bill Bailey is the s**t!!! I can take or leave sean hughes.

I didn't even realise the show was back on air. Though, not sure how good the show is without Lamarr. Does anyone know why Lamarr is not in this series? I don't think he has much else to do :)

Apparently he's taking a break for this series "to concentrate on other projects"

Ah OK, I guess we'll have to wait to see what these other "projects" will turn out to be.

Good, I didnt know Lamarr had left.

He got too big for his boots. I hate the way he stopped asking the questions and was more interested in his unfunny humour.

I missed it this week. I'm not sure what it will be like without Mark, I really like him.......Well I say I like him, I tolerate him :D

Well I know he's done a few things for BBC Radio etc in the past, so it could be something along those lines..

that curly haired plonker from CH4's Popworld was on last nite

and it was one of the funniest shows in years, he very good at being a plonker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

I thought it was one of the weakest. I kept flicking over to other stations.

I saw last week's repeat over the weekend, and found it very very funny. That guy from Kaiser Chiefs was a very good stand-in. "I am contractually obligated to say, I predict a laugh riot". Nice stuff.

The choice of guests was also pretty good -- never heard of your man sitting with Bill, but claiming that he "invented" Live 8, genius.

Anyone? Anyone? I'll get me coat.

Ross was very good presenting it.

is it just me or is simon amstell's lack of funniness having an effect on everybody else too, not even bill bailey can save the new series, it's f***king terrible to watch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

I can't think of anything less funny than Simon Amstell.

i think the new presenter is great, thought it would be **** without lamarrrrr but tis as good as ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 567 ✭✭✭Skittlebrau

I had to google to see who this Simon chap is. I remember him from Popworld now. Used to think he was quite funny.

I miss Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The Aussie version (Spicks And Specks) is terrible (except when Ross Noble is a guest)

Really? I found watching Amstell trying his hardest to channel Lemarr was pretty painful.

I think he's doing a fine job. His stuff with Vanessa was just great.

    "You're old"!
