Christ yes - we were there on honeymoon 18 months ago - we were both 33 at the time and we were carded (heck of a compliment!!) but BOS bars are incredibly strict and it's passports ONLY, no drivers licences (hubby had to go back to the hotel to get his....)

I know the guys who own the Boston Beer Garden so it might be worth a visit. Can highly recommend The Shamrock in Cambridge and the Purple Shamrock around the corner from Faneuil Hall. We also have some very faded (but fond) memories of the Littlest Bar on Province Street

Hey thanks for all the recommendations guys :)

ID is a major problem there. If you dont have it you wont get served even if you look like a grandad. Common sense just doesnt come into it.

Wont be back for a long time. No buybacks either. No place like NY.

    hey!
did the j1 thing in Boston last summer tis a great city!! loads of Irish bars go to Ned Devines, Fanueil Hall I worked there! say 'Aluminum' sent ya! :D tis great on weekend nites but get there early Q can be unreal!!!!!
Newbury St and Dowtown Crossing are great for shopping, Newbury St can verge on expensive side tho! make sure ya check out Filenes basement too!
how long ya staying for? craisglist.org is invaluable!
Littlset Bar was supposed to be closing which is a pity tis great fun
they are quite strict on id but some clubs have over 19 nites which mean ya can get in but not get the band for drinking! The Kinvara in Allston dont care what age ya are tho they get raided by police a lot!
Lansdowne St by Fenway has a few good clubs, Avalon Axis. Boston is mainly a bar town though an they are pretty strict.
check out the Pheonix when ya get there tis a free paper and has all clubs/pubs listed and a whats goin on guide and stuff. prob has a website too if ya google it!
    anything else just ask!
