You can buy them lots of places.

If you have a sub I would ring and tell them it is NINE?? years old and dead so you are cancelling. (costs nothing to rejoin). They may offer a new box free.

IF you don't subscribe, but used to, offer to join they might offer a new box on a minimum 3 month period.

IF you don't much care for Pay TV then a Non-Sky box at about 80Euro (no RF modulator) to 120 Euro (with RF out) is best. see the supplier sticky on here and the ICDGopedia.

It is likely a PSU fault. Could be a Faulty tuner, or even both. Too old to be worth fixing.

sounds like the box has had its day, you can buy a digibox from any retialer who stocks it or 2nd hand on ebay. Go for a late pace or panasonic model if you can

I'm not sure, BUT I really don't think they'll give you a free box!!

Over the past two years Sky have -always- offered a free box if you threatened to cancel. One of the ten million things the "senior accounts manager" asked me about was "Have you had an equipment failure", then told me to keep it as I'll get "free channels including Sky Three" (woo..) and that I can "reconnect at any time" (double woo...)

Jamesy's figure of 8M was too good to let slip, and now he wants 10M. So....

And they don't mind people buy their own boxes, either. As long as its a Sky box the'll sell a sub for it :)

I think you'd be best ringing them for a better response than that. Give it a go, using that number they gave you.

€159? They'll give you a refurb for the cost of a service call (€85?). If you can't blag a service call free.

Have you tried a proper full reset of the box? The one where it checks and downloads the latest epg firmware etc?
Ive got a Grundig which over the past 4 years fails every 14 months or so, there crap! Anyway I think that its a design fault and the LNB connectors gradually suffer from dry joints on the circuit board.? just a guess cos it gradually keeps coming up with the no signal excuse.
