Oh, and thanks for notifying me of it by email the other day. Much appreciated.

I hope so man! Just don't listen to anyone trying to limit your exposure to other aspects of the martial arts cause your a kup grade!!

    No probs!

To meet Rick is a real eye opener to see an 8th Dan act in such a cool and relaxed manner and hold you in the same level of respect as he would give to high ranked dan grades.

Also his jokes and dirty mind add to the whole event :D

Oh ya! and he knows his stuff!!

Some of it will be similar! But he will change focus a bit as he has some formats that he runs through for different applications and experience. So you will see more new stuff than old!!

Ever try getting a hall inDublin? They're like gold dust to be honest.

So I had to settle for my own training hours in the hall I use. It annoys me I can't get it for longer, but thats life :)

These type of seminars are more taxing on the brain than on the body!!

But can leave you knackered all the same!!

    So Jon!

How did the seminar with the poor old man go??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,621 ✭✭✭yomchi

The old man was in top form Paul! Hard to believe he had just been under the knife. The seminar pulled in just over 30 people.
His knowledge of pressure points is second to none! He sure knows where to hurt!
My arms were still sore the next day. I got some really good feed back from the group who are eager to have him back again.

    How did yours go?

Was talking to Paul in the chat room yesterday. Seems the seminar was postponed. I think it's happening today and tomorrow instead.

    -Shane.

    Thats right Shane!

Some of the groups that were involved were not able to make it yesterday! So we have grouped them in with the Fermoy seminar tonight!!

    Jon,

Rick says that he loved working with the group in Dublin!

And was really impressed that people travelled some distance up the country to see him!!

He's shown me some of the pics he has on his digi camera and it looked like fun!! I'd have loved to have been there myself!! But I was driving the taxi all weekend to make up for the time off I am taking!!

We're really looking forward to the Fermoy sem tonight in Sensei Brian Toomey's hall!!

    Hope it goes well Paul!
We really had a blast, even the other ITF guys found decent applications for their patterns!

All my own students are pestering me to get him back! I've created a monster LOL

The reaction down here has not been as good as Dublin.

But will be a good one tonight!!
    Jon wrote:

I worked out a whole load of great applications for Chang Hon patterns before I moved to the Chung Do Kwan type stuff!! They are so clse to the Shotokan forms that it don't take much to crossover.

My buddy Matt in the UK has based a whole syllabus based on pressure tested applications for the Chang Hon.

    we had a blast tonight!!

there were tkd and shotokan folk there from waterford, galway and cork!

i think there may have been folk from tipp?? but not sure!!

what really gets people is that rick is only a week and a half after having a major heart surgery and he can still perform this stuff on fitter and stronger guys!!

it really shows that skill in technique can over come strength!!

thanks to all that hosted and supported this time around!!

He will be back around November this year and is eager to try and get as many interested parties involved in the next Irish visit as the interest has been so good!!
