processor cleaning

hi
just bought a second hand intel pentium 4 3.0ghz and mobo for €140 i'ved cleaned most of the gum off the processor with nail varnish remover but there is a small bit of gum in the little hole on the corner of the processor should i just leave this there incase i damage the processor.

I wouldn't worry about a little bit of gunk in the heatspreader hole. Safer not to try removing it and anyway it shouldn't make any difference to performance as the flat surface is all that you need to clean for good heat transfer.
The reasons given for the hole being there seem to be Intel informed us this hole is necessary because after manufacturing, the chip releases gas as it cures. to ... the hole in the heat spreader is used to allow the air inside to expand when heated without causing damage due to pressure and though its primary use is during the manufacturing process it also serves to do the same thing under normal use.. So it seems to be a gas pressure relief (no jokes about f@rts please ).
