I hope someone with a bit more technical knowledge than me (not hard) can help with this,

Recently I cant burn music Cd's on my dell desktop,
When the burn starts everything is fine then after a minute or so the time remaining goes up to about 30 minutes and the disc pops out with a there was a problem writing the disk please try again error,

Ive tried using different programmes like Nero and Record Now but still the same issue, The weird thing is I can burn data cd's and dvd's no problem

This is the error coming up under advanced

    Disc Write Error - Sense:03 ASC:0C ASCQ:00 (Command:2A)
    _nec DVD+RW ND-1100A (E:) ATAPI (10FD)
    PX.DLL - 1.6.14.507
    PXMAS.DLL - 1.6.14.507
    PXWAVE.DLL - 1.6.14.507
    PXWMA.DLL - 1.0.0.3

Ive uninstalled and re installed the drive and removed and programmes which might be messing them up like Daemon tools

    Thanks in Advance.

Hi Slinky.. What Motherboard are you using.. I had a similiar problem. And it was down to the Motherboard.. I have an Abit motherboard and when you install the driver for the motherboard you get prompted to install a IDE/SCSI driver.. Dont do this as it ends up changing the Drive to a SCSI instead of IDE. Therefore disabling the write capability of Data/CD..

Hope this is a help mate.
    Good luck.

Dont know if this is your problem, but it would it be the sony bug that I had heard about. Aparently sony put a file in their music cd's that disabled copying them, but it also had the result of disabaling a burner to copy any music. Not sure if this is your problem, but might be worth checking out.

2 time i've heard the sony rootkit suggested as a cause for this, happened a friend of min last week , as far as i know he got an ad-aware plugin to remove the piece of sh*t. I check with him and see if this did the trick.
