yeah it's a battle for 3rd spot now between arsenal and liverpool, spurs will collapse as usual.

shows you how poor liverpool are when they were ahead of utd with a game in hand just a month or 2 ago. read somewhere utd are 3 points better off at this stage than they were in 2003 when they last lifted the premiership.

a solid midfielder and no injuries next season should see utd compete with chelsea. scholes and heinze, even smith are huge losses atm.

heinze should tighten up the back, i dont believe we can improve there (heinze, brown, ferdinand, neville). a new winger is needed along with a central midfielder. thats it.

Utd. always let the foot off the gas when they aren't in contention for the league and have the champions league place sewn up. Seeing as they have nothing else to compete in this year, it might be a bit different.

Well last year after the victory at Highbury United seemed to be in pole position for 2nd, and the only possible team that could catch Chelsea. A pretty bad run cost them second to Arsenal. The year before the same thing happened, Chelsea snuck in ahead of United on the last day of the season.
But it does like this could be the year, Liverpool seem to be in a bit of a rot at the moment.

    United 2nd
    Liverpool 3rd
    Arsenal 4th

Over the season, the cream always rises to the top.

United need really world class midfielders like Lyons Diarra and one player i would love to see at United is Juan Román Riquelme

    the player is class
love to see him in a united shirt

any body see Lille player Jean Makoun play
    he was quoted saying

I know United are interested in me," Makoun was quoted as saying in the News Of The World. "They sent a scout to our game against Monaco last week. My agents have met United."

united have a few tough games left yet, away to spurs and chelsea, at homt to arsenal. liverpool in comparison, seem to be over the worst of the fixtures now. still, its united 2nd place to loose now, arsenal will get 3rd i think.

i hope arsenal 3rd or 4th because i have a feeling if they dont get champions league spot Henry is gone and that would be very bad for the Premiership

    the player is class
    love watching him play

Maybe so, but i still can't see United doing so bad that Liverpool will catch them,

I think that in the end United will get 2nd based on Liverpool dropping too many points through draws.

I doubt Utd will get a jammy goal to win this time. :)

But all rivalry aside...I wouldn't mind chelsea being beaten.

I can't wait for this tie. I hope ManU will give chelsea a tough game and do the double over them. It should be small consolation.

Man Utd: 28 games played : 60 pts

    Games Remaining:

    West Brom (A) : WIN
    Birmingham (H) : WIN
    West Ham (H) : DRAW
    Bolton (A) : WIN
    Arsenal (H): DRAW
    Sunderland (H) : WIN
    Tottenham (A) : DRAW
    Middlesbrough (H) : WIN
    Chelsea (A) : DRAW/LOSS
    Charlton (H) : WIN

End of Season points tally: 81 pts.

Liverpool: 29 games played 55 pts

    Games remaining

    Fulham (H) : WIN
    Newcastle (A) : DRAW
    Everton (H) :WIN
    West Brom (A) : WIN
    Bolton (H) : WIN
    Blackburn (A) : DRAW
    West Ham (A) : WIN
    Aston Villa (H) : DRAW
    Portsmouth (A) : WIN

End of season points tally: 76 pts

I feel that both teams will match each other until the end of the season, the only thing that may alter results is Liverpools participation in the F.A. Cup. Depending on how far they go will have an effect on their final League position.
With both clubs facing other clubs in with a shout of a European place or facing a relegation battle, it should provide an interesting battle, with United to prevail and hold on to 2nd place.

Would probably agree.. It seems that Liverpool have fallen victim to their own success this season and I can't help but wonder what effect the extra games have had this season..

All that being said, I would still be more than happy with 3rd place considering last seasons performaces and will look forward to next season.

Would agree - a lot of the Liverpool players have looked tired over the last few weeks(Barring Gerrard).

I would be interested in knowing why Liverpool are more likely to beat West Ham away than United are to beat them at home.
Also Portsmouth last day of the season won't be an easy match, with relegation and whathave.
Bolton at Home is not an easy match at all. Nor is United at Bolton either.

Portsmouth will already be relegated on the last day of the season.

TBH either way I reckon he's off to Barce with all but the signature to be put on the dotted line. I have a sneaky feeling it's already done and dusted bar the official stuff. I would'nt be surprised to see Ashely cole on a Plane to either Spain or Italy come the start of next season (It won't be on the way to a CL qualifyier either :D )

I agree and Campbell is also likely to move on Imo.

You forgot to add that Pires is off, Bergkamp too, Ljungberg is Italy bound, Gilberto, Lauren & Reyes Spain bound too.

They'll be fielding the U19 team next season.

Arsenal have a habit of keeping the team together. I wonder if Vieira was the knot that kept it all from unravelling. I was surprised they got into the state where Edu left for free tbh.

I hope you're right astro but I still have my doubts. The last two seasons falling away towards the end where we have traditionally been strongest looks like it might have set a bad trend.

I think that arose out of Edu believing he was a lot better than he was and demanding an absolutely ridiculous wage.

And Gangsta, I was being sarcastic. The same stories circulate every year, and the same people buy into them every single time. Bonus points if you can guess who.
