Icybox SATA Enclosure

    Just bought one of these IcyBox enclosures and I already had an abit Serillel which allows you to connect ATA drives to SATA so I thought I could use one of my existing older ATA drives in it. Problem is I can't see a way to use it. The standard SATA cable won't fit the SATA socket in the box so I'm thinking it only allows you to plug a SATA drive directly into it. So before I go buying a SATA drive would anyone know if this is the case. The Icybox seems nice but has probably the worst instructions I've ever seen.

    The Abit SATA adaptor was intended for internal drives only & not to be put inside an external enclosure which are very tight on space.

    What kind of Icy Box do you have ?

    It pretty much boils down to two types ones that use a standard IDE HD which interface to a USB 2.0/SATA output.

    And ones that use a SATA HD inside it and output to a USB 2.0/SATA output.

    I have the SATA Hard Disk one. I'm happy enough to have it just thought I might be able plug in some old disks and use them in the short term. Gonna order a SATA drive now. Thanks.
