Saturday night in the Fitz.

I was hanging around on Saturday in the Fitz sweating my brother in the Gutshot challenge when Denise asked me if I was playing the €15 PL round of each game which I personally detest.

Now I told her I hate the tournie and that if the Fitz ran a €100 DC chance game along the lines of the Tuesday game structure (possibly some more chips ;) ) I'd be there every Saturday. She said why don't you say it to Luke and I did. Am I alone in thinking this would be a very popular game and with a 7 o'c lock start on a Saturday could be a good move for both the Fitz (from the point of view of filling the cash tables even earlier) and the punters point of view?

If you feel the same why not make your views known to the man who can do something about it i.e. Luke Ivory @ the Fitz. He won't bite.

yeah olly great idea imo. Personally i cant/dont go beering on a sat nite because of soccer on a sunday morning so instead find myself stuck at home playing online due to a lack of good tournies in dublin on a sat night. I would love a €100 d.c., and starting at 7 would be great and allow more play and a better structure. I urge anyone else interested to say it to Luke or direct him to this thread.

Would you see this running instead of or alongside the round-of-each tourney?

I'm personally quite fond of the round-of-each, and as it's the one of the only Omaha tourneys, if not the only one, I think it'd be a pity to lose it.

Why do people dislike this tourney? Is it the low buy-in, the multiple rebuys or simply the Omaha?

I think there should be a deepstacked omaha tourney on saturday nights, in the €50-€100 range maybe. There are enough double chance tourneys on in dublin during the week so no need for another one.

I personally would have nothing against a better quality omaha game. Say a €50 DC pot limit omaha only game. The €15 game is mad but thats mainly becuase it attracts people who are up for gambling basically the skill doesn't come into this tournie until maybe the FT by which time the blinds are fairly horrendous anyway.

I'm all for choice but as Willis says its tough to get a good live tournie on a Saturday night and a nice 60 runner field in a €100 DC game could be very tasty.

Personally I envisaged the two games going side by side (at least at the start anyway to see what people want) with the earlier kick off in the new game making it easier to get started. The €15 game rebuy game may have reduced numbers as a result but overall more punters should be pulled into the club thats my argument for Luke.

    Edit:

Cross over with Reggie's suggestion which I also think has serious merit. THe €15 game is a joke but I'm all for a quality omaha game.

I think a €100 PLO FO with say 6k-7k starting stack.

    Great idea

As long as its holdem. An omaha game although popular with individuals will never get big numbers.

I used to like the sat night round of each game, but no more.

    1. It is too full of people who don't have a clue what they are doing. This is to be encouraged in cash Omaha games, not in the tourney. It wrecks my head.
    2. Not enough people.
    3. Too many stoppages to move tables, take in chips etc.
    4. I can't take it seriously enough for €15 a pop.
    5. Vernon always has loads of chips, then gives them away to other players.

I think if they had a €40+5 Omaha only tournie with 1 rebuy or top up, starting stack 3k, rebuy/topup 4k I would be more interested in this. That or a standard holdem freezeout/double chance.

I can understand all of the points above about the round-of-each, especially Dom's point about people not taking it seriously. That irritates me intensely too.

I'd be very reluctant to see no omaha tourney at all in the Fitz, but I'd jump at any of the suggestions above, especially the limited rebuy option.

Anyone care to take these suggestions to Luke & the management?

That tourney, a round of each, irritated me. I think some time ago they tried a small buy-in Omaha tournament (Wednesday?) but it died in a few weeks.

I would love to play a tourney like H.O.R.S.E. with about one hour of each game. I have no idea what's involved but with say €10 re-buys it would be a break from endless Hold Em.

Is it Hold Em; Omaha; Razz; Stud; and E?

Saturday could be crazy game night.

E is for hi/lo Eights or better, i think its usually 7stud hi/lo 8 or better

but how many players would you expect to show up regularly for that game in dublin?

The round of each is my favourite tournament of the week, it works out at around 60euro per player and a decent omaha player wont have a bigger edge over the field in any tournament in Dublin.

what's the average payout on a saturday round of each?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

you get 3 to 5 tables, normally 1k or slightly less for 1st with a deepstacked final table

i won it outright two months ago and got around €500 there were 4 tables that night and the stack were fairly low to the felt on the FT.

once u get some chips in front of u the round of each tourney is usually great fun. last saturday there was €1500 for 1st.

Last Sat there were 7/8 tables I believe. Usually it is about 600/700 or so for first with a prize pool of 1200-1400. There are usually an average of 4 tables.

i agree with a lot of the suggestions above, many of the good games in the fitz are ruined by people just in to gamble rather than play, a round of each game with a 4-5K starting chips and one re-buy/top-up would be good with a 40-50€ buy in....
a break from hold em would be good too.. the HORSE game though i think wouldnt attract many players as they think theyd be too inexperienced in the unpopular games..how many people play eights or better or stud...

does anyone know what are the numbers are like for the stud game in the fitz?
