FTA recommendation

I am living outside Cork with only aerial's at present for the primary 8 channels. Just upgraded TV at weekend to LCD and boy it shows lack of signal quality. My thoughts are to get a FTA reciever / dish which would at least give me the UK channels (I believe no Irish channels, other than Sky News Ireland, are on FTA). I don't professing to knowing much about sat technology hence my questions to this forum:

    1. Can I distribute FTA to multiple rooms? Is this done thru std tv cable already installed?

    2. Any recommendations on receiver type / dish I should be looking at? I saw this for EUR169 - Sab explorer fta + 60 cm dish+ lnb+ wall mount+f connectors
Satellite system design for Astra 28,2 - any good?

    3. Anyway of getting the primary Irish channels?

    Many thanks

    Eoin

    1) All rooms get the same channel as whatever is tuned in on the receiver.
    OR
Have more than one FTA receiver (Need Quad LNB then).
You need to use Satellite cable CT100 between dish LNB and receiver.

    2) See sites on the ICDG for suppliers and info. This forum is more about non-Sky Pay TV.

    3) Only with a subscription to Sky. Often free equipment/install. Unlike cable TV you own the gear so when you cancel it still gets all the free channels a FTA receiver gets. You need Variety Mix pack + one other mix pack about 22Euro per month. Often free install is for a more expensive pack, you can downgrade with one month notice and cancell altogether after a year.

Free channels on Sky receiver OR ANY FTA receiver.

Sky use a 65cm dish. If you are getting a FTA system go for an 80cm dish as this allows multiple LNBs for other satellites or a Motor (100 Euro) later for up to 20 satellites. 60cm is bit small in heavy rain.

Question for Watty. I recently had a SAB explorer satellite box installed and I have attempted to populate the Favorite list with channels. Unfortunately the users manual is next to useless and I have failed. Can you suggest where I might get further info on this matter. Thank you.

I've never heard of a SAB explorer. What does Mr. Google say?
