How is Boards.ie maintained

mostly our wonderful Overlords, the Admins.
boards exist because of their great delight in running a site like this, mainly out of their own pockets.
Recently the rest of us normal users can suscribe for 50 euro a year, this helped them upgrade and they bought a new server.

Advertising revenue, and subscriptions. (I have no idea if that covers the costs - I doubt it. So deep admin pockets as well.)

Not really no, the admins don't like people lodging money into the accounts apparently, because quite simply, its too hard to track. The paypal option is all automated as far as I'm aware.

That being said, I'm far from an authority here.

I hope you're not under the impression that you have to subscribe?

not at all ,I am benifiting from using the boards.
The fact that i had to ask about it as i did proves it.

When i used modems years back i use to log onto bulletin boards ,nemesis dungeon ,mista fantastic used to have one in bray and there was ireland on line.
I choose to subscribe to nemesis dungeon ,mainly because i didn't have to.

the term "without prejiduce" springs to mind.

In return boardsie supplies Ruggie with a "mailing list" that "informs" potential subscribers of this service using only a measly 25 emails a day to each address.

Ordered a 3V card 2 days ago ,it came this morning.
I know there out to make money ,but that cost them to send me that card out and I might never use it.

Have no excuse now ,give me another couple of days to check out payapl.

I used a 3v card to register. All you do is set up an account, make your 3v voucher the default card on the account, then subscribe!

God damn you man if there was ever one non-alcoholic drink that I'd make into DOTW, it is Lucozade Original. Especially when hungover. The old-style glass bottles with the papery orange wrap are the definition of retro chic for me.

That and its glucosey goodness is what keeps me ticking through the long work hours.
