Doesn't look too bad. What's the machine going to be used for?

One thing that I noticed was the Geforce 6100..never heard of it. I'm assuming it's a built in graphics chip?
Something in that doesn't sound right..maybe it's just me being paranoid.

Any ideas what make/model the motherboard is?

Why "Major Branded"? Why not post the manufacturer? (curious)

By "Major Branded", I think you'll find it's the company that actually manufactures the base product.
Eg. Samsung memory chips used in Corsair RAM.

So it's probably Samsung RAM, as opposed to something like Corsair or Geil.

I think that link will get you to it.

Doesn't come with a OS but that can be purchased reasonably cheaply.

I've mixed feelings about it....doesn't seem too future proof and while i can build a better machine for a similar price i really don't fancy being tech support for when he breaks it

Build a machine & tell him it was second-hand from eBay or Boards.ie... But,TBH, you're most likely going to be tech support no matter what - so you may as well just do it:)

But that alone might encourage him to not break it..Just makes sure you tell him to ring you should anything go wrong!
