    Hi,

I'm just wondering what programs do people use when converting their video's on their computer to play on their ipods? I havn't got one yet and want to get a decent one soon.

    Thanks

Previous thread on the topic right here.

FYI I wouldn't go with Quicktime for the simple reason its way too slow compared to the other encoders. You have two choices MPEG 4 or MPEG 4 AVC (aka H.264) for encoding with, MPEG 4 AVC retains more detail than MPEG 4 at a lower bit rate (with a smaller file size as a result) but the trade off is an in increased encoding time.

    4:3 = 320x240 [fullscreen]
    16:9 = 320x224 [widescreen]

Some widescreen content looks squished when you use the full screen but you can make widescreen material work with it as well by using the other 16:9 resolution at a cost of not using the full area of the display.

Normally I use MeGUI but I would have to say the latest version of Nero Recode does a pretty good job & is a hell of a lot easier to use.
