Will it ever happen? Surely eBay/Paypal would look into this market eventually, after all Betfair now accepts Paypal.

So whats to stop poker sites from accepting Paypal as a method of payment. It would be a great addition to the majority of poker sites, as Paypal is one of the most used payment methods on the web, but mainly for shopping etc. and eBay of course.

I guess your talking about the us sites that wont take credit card, this is because of us law, stopping people playing poker online and betting online in the us. Something to do with there state laws etc.

All us sites took credit cards at the start, but than the govt force the banks to stop allowing people pay by credit card for gambling. Thats why PP dont allow us players

PPP could and can accept US sign ups, however if the CEO of PPP was to travel to the states he would be greeted by a Government agency with an arrest warrant in hand :)

Within in Isle of Man Law (which changed to accept US business roughly 14 months ago) they can accept US business the consequences however are outlined above.

paypal used to, then they stopped when they were under legal pressure (they are a US company). They will probably never change this policy, it's not worth it to them to fiight the US government.

It would be in their interest to develop a system to allow payments for registered countries where gambling is legal.

ladbrokes is now accepting paypal as from last week

Edit:With a PayPal account you can instantly add funds to your Ladbrokes.com account. You can also withdraw funds back to your PayPal account subject to a delay of approximately 3 hours. PayPal is currently available to customers registered in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. It is only available for customers whose Ladbrokes.com account currency is GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, AUD or JPY.

This is great news for the poker world, as I personally love PayPal.

I hope a lot more poker sites hurry up and incorporate this as a payment method ASAP.

You can send money to individuals via email.
I remember it from eBay and theres no charge to send money but i believe the reciever of a paypal payment has quite a wedge taken away by paypal.

So it will not offer me anything extra.

I would rather use player transfer on one of the sites than have PayPal take a bit of commission.

I suppose its similar to NETeller, just a lot more people are familiar with PayPal I guess, and you can use your bankroll to purchase near enough anything online (worldwide) as 99% of websites accept PayPal as a payment method, where as NETeller is mainly for gambling related sites. (Bookmakers, Poker Sites, Casinos etc.)
