Help Needed - Speaker Problem

Having a problem with my speakers for quite a while now. There's a problem with the jack/socket/whatever it's called - the bit where I plug my speakers into the computer. When I plug my speakers in I only get sound out of one of them. Its definitely not a fault with the speakers cos they work fine when plugged into my mp3 player. Any ideas on how to fix this, is it a big job? Any help appreciated, its starting to really grate with me!

First of all make sure its pushed in fully, if its sticking out a bit you will only get mono.

If its in fully, double click the Speaker in the tray and set all the balance sliders to the middle.

Also go to Control Panel> sounds and audio devices, navigate to speaker settings, click advanced and set it to desktop stereo speakers.

Thanks for your help conzy, much appreciated. Tried what you said but the same thing keeps happening - sound from coming the right speaker. For example, on some songs the guitar solo won't play or somne other instrument goes out of the mix. Yet this doesn't happen on my creative so I'm guessing its a fault with the actual connection. Thanks again.
