    Keep getting this message when i try to save stuff to an external harddrive what does it mean, how can i fix it ?


    All help would be great thanks loads guys and gals

    you can fix it by not having such a deep path.

    do you know what it means by deep path ? it means

    \folder\inside\a\folder\inside\a\folder\inside\a\folder\inside\a\folder

    if you have less folders inside folders it won't be a probelm.

    its a fat problem. ntfs doesnt have the same restrictions.

    but i'm copying into folders where theres already a number of folders

    Re-arrange all your stuff so it doesn't have to go so far into the directory. Like have more folders at the root and start from there. Try not to have too many folders going into other folders and stuff.

    Edit - Turns out there could be more than just one reason.
