    Hi all,
I’m just wondering did any of you see Carrie Crowley’s interview on The Late Late Show last night. I was delighted when I heard she was on as to see what the girl was up to since I was a fan when she was presenting on RTE a few years ago. I was really surprised and disappointed with the interview, she came across very bitter I thought and showed no gratitude for the chances she got at RTE. She was saying that she hated working on radio and TV and how she was glad her programmes got taken off the air. I thought she came across very badly on the interview and she said she wouldn’t go back into TV again, this disappointed me as I thought she was a fantastic natural presenter back then.

Just wondering what you all thought of her on The Late Late and would you like to see her return to TV?

Carrie Crowley. Brilliant. They should have given her the Faeces and Places* gig. Or maybe Bibi. And merged their names. Barrie. Or Cabi. Anyway, it could have been great

*yes, it was meant to read 'faeces'. It was my idea for a show where Gay's wife would visit small villages around the country and have a dump in their public toilets and read the graffiti.

**post may possibly contain traces of sarcasm

You know I'd stick a patent on that idea before TV3 adapt it as part of next season's homegrown output...

They should have an interview with that pseudo-funny weatherman who thinks he's great gas altogether!

I was flicking around the stations and called up RTE1 to see who was on the Late Late, they happened to be discussing rugs or some such ****e. Is this what my 150 Euro goes towards? Good Lord...

The other working title is Welcome to Dumpsville.

If carrie turns us down, anyone got a number for Thelma Mansfield?

i think she's hot, tall striking irish women, although she was a bit over animated and way too interested in what she had to say about herself on friday, she wasn't that bitter, she was over exposed and rightly disallusioned with media work etc, although it is an old story we've heard already... but I think she said she coming back to workor write or something?

ps those craft things the women insisted we're in everyone price range? RICH BITCH

The Late Late Show is so bad lately it is becoming a joke. Last week Russell Grant, this week Carrie Crowley. Good God, I pay €155 for the TV licence to watch that bland rubbish.
There was a time when the LLS was revoluntionary on social issue's and had all the top stars.
The only time Pat now gets animated is when there is a pretty guest and he practically creams himself..
At least when Eamon Dunphy had a rival show on TV3 the LLS rose to the challenge but now that it's gone they are peddling bland tripe and yet we still watch it.
Someone please dig up Gay Byrne.... Anyone but Pat

I dont know why everyone is so negative to Carrie. She was a great presenter while she was on TV. Far better, more professional and looked the part than many tv presenters of TV and would love to see her back on TV.

I really dont see the reason why she had to be so negative about her TV/Radio work, she was given a lot of opportunities by RTE. Anyone else think she has sour grapes towards RTE?

i take it you are the sole member of the carrie crowley appreciation society?
what does she do now? i thought it was impossible to lose your career while in rte.

You are very very strange. You signed up just to talk about this non-entity who no-one really knows. There is something weird going on here.

In fairness to Carrie, she's no worse than Ryan Tubridy or Ryle Nugent, both of whom I'd like to see fired in the morning.

You kidding me? When you compare them to a lot of RTE's other up and coming "talent" at the moment (the entire young people's department, for example)...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Amazotheamazing

Nugent is so bad he regulary doesn't even know the countries playing in the game he's commentating on, calling France "Wales" today for example. Bear in mind, Ryle had to fly to Paris, FRANCE so he could get to the game. The guys a moron, spent about 5 minutes trying to work out which players were substituted, named the wrong player in possession with mystifying regularity.

Ryan Tubridy is (imo) completely innane, unlikable and slightly creepy.

Are these guys the best RTE has to offer? Maybe. Are they the best the country has to offer, if RTE could be bothered to look? No.

That's a stupid position to take. Just because someone is not involved in a medium does not mean they can't legitimately criticize an aspect of it.

probably because he's not related to or shagging anyone in RTE.
its a closed shop to most people with genuine talent. look at how many of our best comedians have to leg it abroad to get on telly. the only place you'll find a more inbred crowd is in the dail:D

Are you being serious FlutterinBantam? Most sports commentators show at least some ability to tell the competing teams apart, and which teams are actually playing, amongst other things. Nugent is useless, perhaps I'd be worst, but then again, I didn't go for the job.

Tubridy is little better, as anyone who's sat through Tubridy tonight will be able to tell you.

Have to say that's the lol-iest thing I've read on boards in a while. :) Well done! I'm sorry* I didn't get to hear it myself.

(*I'm not really sorry as it would have meant I had sat thru a rugby match)
