I think even if United were willing to sell RVN,
firstly it'd be for more than 7 million
Secondly, there is no chance in hell he would join Spurs, considering the quality he is, and the amount of clubs who would jump at the chance to have him, including Chelsea

    Sounds like a Newacstle story

I wouldnt completly write it off, its unlikely he'd go to chelsea due to the rivalry with ManU. And i dont believe hes happy at United and would fancy a move to London for an up and coming team (probly with Champions League football) with a repected Dutch manager?

Spurs are just this seasons Everton, I doubt he'd join them.

the old reliable papers also said fergie was finished with him after his uncommited performance against the pool in d fa cup...yet he has never scored at anfield and never has looked like doing or even got a sniff off their defence on each occasion. So fergie must have thought about getting rid of him all those times to!!! if he was leaving it would be to italy or spain.

You have to wonder how many more papers are sold when a made up story is printed like that. Spurs have been linked with Robben & Torres while Defoe with liverpool ,carrick with manu and king with chelsea.

Yorke & cole were dropped for the fa cup semi vs arsenal back in 99 and yorke for the final but the papers didnt make up stories as they had plenty of real news to print like the match!!!!!

Don't believe a word of it..........
as stated above there is no chance he would go to Spurs

If he was leaving it would probably be to spain...........

Virgin Radio reckoned Liverpool are going to make a 'jaw dropping' striker signing very soon. Intriguing. Is Rushy really comming back?! :D

    haha, that would work!

I don't think anyone is making any signings at time soon, what with the transfer window being closed and all!

You can still organise the transfer and have it done and dusted, just not signed on the official dotted line.

With Gerrard going the other way of course. You mostly play him out of position now so you obviously don't need him.;)

I can see RVN going in the summer, not to spurs though.

Out of curiosity, would united fans be happy with carrick in exchange for RVN?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,099 ✭✭✭✭WhiteWashMan

    carrick wouldnt go.
if he was going to leave spurs, hed go to a big club abroad.

wouldnt be arsed with a has been club.

LOL. A "has-been club"? They've just won the Carling Cup and now look like wrapping up second in the League. Hardly the stuff of their past but SAF and the lads are hardly washed up yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭TonyD79

LOL Carrick is only with Spurs cause Wenger changed his mind at the last minute. He was practiculy a gunner!!! The only way spurs will ever do something is if a russian comes in with a couple of hundred million. As for utd being a has been club if it wasnt for a russian they would still be neck and neck with Arsenal for the title like they were. They simply dont have the midfield they used to have. If Liverpool had Manu's front 3 they would win the leage.

Ruud will probably leave in the summer because he is on the bench again today against Newcastle

Whereas you could see Van Nistelrooy moving to a club that has never finished in the top 6 of the Premiership?

This is certainly a more reasonable argument.

The rumour going around on the interweb is Ronaldo thats from the same place that said Fowler was going to sign two weeks before he did so you never know.

I saw that. The last thing we need is another slow, ageing, la liga star who is in decline.

Isnt their current owner a billionair? and their second in command is worth a billion or something ... then of course Sugar is still there, he must be worth a bob or too.

ENIC, who hold a controlling share in Spurs are owned by the 2nd richest man in world football. Recent developments suggest that ENIC are in the process of taking the club private, though what effect that will have is anyone's guess. There will not be a Roman-style splashing of the cash IMO.

I think you misheard - it was a jaw dropping streaker signing, only way they can get a bit of entertainment about the liverpool team, she/he supposedly have plenty up front.

    Newcastle 'monitoring the situation'

    The Telegraph:

Newcastle United have unofficially launched their campaign to recruit Manchester United's striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

St James' Park has let it be known that they are interested in signing the Dutch international who would be the ideal successor to the talismanic striker Alan Shearer, who will retire from playing this summer.

Newcastle have said they are "monitoring" the situation of Van Nistelrooy, 30 this summer, who has apparently becomes restless at Old Trafford.

Even though Newcastle have no permanent manager, they could well be calculating that the prospective arrival of Van Nistelrooy might help them to attract Martin O'Neill who remains the club's top target to take over from the interim coach Glenn Roeder.

It's what I like to call a Newcastle story
