mine people who get irate and berate someone who makes a dodgy call but ends up sucking them out... i.e hitting a miracle card or a two outer and the person who lost can't take the bad beat and has a go at the "lucky" player who just punk'd em...

get over it man it happens to all.. alot!!

I absloutly hate it when people minraise pre flop (online). Grrrrr...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,362 ✭✭✭Hitman Actual

Players who say "raise" when they're only betting.

So called "bad beats" when the money goes in preflop e.g. AA against KK, Axx on the flop, turn + river = KK. Still only 4/1, not ~1000/1!

SE skipping the 150/300 level. (Edit: probably doesn't belong in this thread)

I hate it when my mouth says 'All in', three seconds before my brain has decided whether it's the right thing to do or not.

Peoiple who ask how much it is to call when the blinds are clearly visible and there is a 10ft screen in front of them telling then what the small and big blind is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,141 ✭✭✭ocallagh

people who consistently dwell up for 5 minutes when they have no intention of calling, especially pre-flop.

or online, when some idiot rivers you with a 2-outer and some other idiot says nh... and the idiot who rivered you says ty.

or when someone pretends to move all-in by picking up their stack.. but throws away their cards with their other hand..... highly original and just plain cruel.

I'm quite often the idiot saying 'nh', its an 'nh' dripping in sarcasm really. And I believe it helps push the loser of the hand into tilting.

you make a daring bluff on the river that leaves a board with 4 spades... and then you hear the worst words in poker...

"i know i'm behind but.... " as the villain turns over his bottom pair.

Just playing a $2 STT (I'm drunk and hoping it'll be an all-in fest) on PPP. 7 people limp first hand, 4 of them after getting the 10-second-warning. And the poxy BB does a min-raise. Lord bless us and save us.

thats what the all-in button is for

flush chasers who genuinely believe they are ahead just because they have 4 of a suit....it seems online nobody can lay done a flush draw no matter what the bet into them

My peeve is that I'm guilty of that...

People who think a 51% win chance gives them a devine right to take a hand and makes them a superior player to (but unluckier than) someone who takes a chance and beats them on a 49% shot, then bitch about how the best player lost, because some ****ing cheap book they bought on amazon told them they should win.

You know what really grinds my gears? Little gimps who say "how much have you got left?", then fold.

Fish dropping lots of poker lingo at a table to make it look like they know their stuff.

Well I hate that people tend to get pissed off a lot with me in poker, but I like it a bit too.
I' just don't um play in the standard way, 'a lot of why the hell did you do that, you had no right to be in this hand'
It's funny to see people get so frustrated.
Go go us renegade mavericks. :)
SO i don't know if I like or dislike annoying people with my somewhat unorthodox play of playing the players and not my cards.

EDIT: I also won the tournament I was in yesterday. :)

I prefer 3 to a flush post flop, really puts my opponents off the scent.

I have no pet peeves apart from variance, far too often it's my enemy and far too often it wins the battle.

when you have to remind a player for the 10th time to keep his cards on the table where they can be seen.
When you are asked for the 20th time by the same dam player what value each chip is when they have been playing for over an hour at that stage and have played nearly every hand.
Or the cretan who says well thats the way they do it at the cpt and they clearly haven't a clue what they are talking about.

I get a lot of this poker talk at tournaments, people talking about names and the world poker tournament, in fact we were playing with a deck from it yesterday. I have no idea what they are talking about. Odds are my game, good old maths. Also a lot of the lingo makes no sense to me as I don't really bother with it.
I have no idea about anybody in poker but I like the tournaments on tv.
I'll look at this eamonn person on google...
because apparently it will be funny :D

In relation to live cash game play i believe that general etiquette and good manners in general are being forgotton. I am specifically talking about slowrolling hands after the river when the action is completed. If you have the winning hand for god sake turn it over and dont raise peoples hopes of winning the pot. Players are of course keen to see what there opponents have but if you have what is likely to be the winning hand turn it up. I have noticed recently that many new players as well as many old players derive great pleasure from the dreaded slowroll, last week in the fitz it happened to me 3 times for largish pots, i was not ammused in the slighest. also ther is no need for the rubdown after winning or losing a pot just play on. in short these are my pet hates in live poker.

A guy Reraising a Raise with 10 3 and then me Tanking it in with Aces only for the guy to hit a flush and go "knew i'd win it"

Slow rollers and people who very veeeeeeeeeeery slowly review their cards (themselves) rather then putting them on the table. Carefulllllly look at the board, and then eventually fold or even worse, show a winning hand.

A guy the other night, told his opponent he was "on a bluff" when in fact he was on the nut flush draw that hit on the river. All the cash was in and he admitted he didnt want to tell his opponent what his hand was. Thats just ghey.

Theres a chinese guy in the fitz who blinks hard every 15 seconds or so, doesnt have great english, but he is a c*nt for slow rolling and waiting for his opponent to turn over his cards before then gloating as he turns over the nuts. He hasnt done it to me (yet) but I swear I'll have words with him if he does.

People who type "ul" after winning a hand of you - I usually reply "uw" which they think i'm saying "you win" when in fact I'm saying "You W*nker" :D

also...i hate when people say "ill call you all in" that doesnt even make sense but i wrecks my head... people who thought you were bluffing as a defense for calling with 2/3o and winning..preflop...

I hate when guys who constantly splash their chips all over the place at every raise and call. And I mean constantly! I dont know what they are trying to prove!

And I hate untra agressive serial raisers. I really hate when someone keeps making a big raises preflop and most of the time not staying until the river.

Yeah he has done that to me a few times, when I dabbled in the €100 game, drove me nuts. He Showed trebs first and then when I show higher trebs and all of my four cards he showed the nut flush...... aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh. The 3rd diamond had come up on river and I had all my money in on fourth street. I had to walk away cause i just knew i would go on tilt. The I saw him a couple of weeks later and he was after getting a body wave or something in his hair, so I smiled and stopped playing in €100 game.

I don't see why, I've never done it but it can be a pretty effective way of reading your opponet and figureing out if he thinks he'll beat you or not I'd imagine, judgeing by his reaction to it.
