Just got this installed, but it's not enabled yet - anyone any idea how long it takes to switch the card to the new box?

After ringing Sky and the card inserted/swapped over*, the premium subscriptions channels (Sky Movies, Sky Sports) could take a few hours, but it could happen straight away; no logic or reason there! RTÉ and the other subscription channels will work straight away, as the encryption on those isnt as hard as the premium channels mentions, so those chanels work in any box, even if the card is not yet married to the box yet.
Assess to the record facility takes a few hours too, maybe longer than for Sky Movies/Sports to appear.

*Assuming you have Sky already and are moving the card into the new Sky+ box.

bpmurray can I ask how much you forked out for this ? I asked about and was quoted a sum of 600 euro I think... I laughed and got the standard 80 gig box and bought a Maxtor 250 GB 5400 rpm of fleabay instead.

After the installer had gone I had to phone Sky twice.

First time to pair the card with the new Digibox, second time to enable the sky+ recording facility. It was activated within minutes so if you do not get any joy soon phone them and ensure all is in order...

    baud.

It was free - I "introduced" my brother - they had a special offer just before Christmas.

You're right - I had to phone: the subscription was turned on right away, but the firmware version was very old apparently, so I had to force a download of the latest version. The I had to call again, to enable the recorder. It's all running sweetly now.

I forgot to mention: the installer couldn't attach the quad LNB to my existing setup, so he put up a new dish. This means I now have an old 80cm dish with two LNBs attached that work fine, and it's just taking up space. Anyone who's willing to pick it up can have it for free.

Or use that for Astra 19E and Hotbird 13E
CNBC, Telenova, BBC World TV, Arte, TV5, TVei, DWTV, Ch33 IBA, TFJ, Meteo channel, gasillions pop music and 3 or 4 sport, Russia Today, Nile TV international. Plenty of good free TV and Radio. Add a FTA reciever and Diseqc switch for under 100 Euro or a 50 Euro PC card.
