    'power cycle'?! What's that? I've been having speed and disconnect problems - interested in anything that might help!

    ^ funny.

    Power Cycle, unplug the device from the mains, wait 30seconds-1minute, plug the device back in again. In effect a hard reboot.

    Guarenteed to fix 99.9% of problems.

    Yeah me too!
    Was getting 2400 kbps on down and 300 on up.
    Now I seem to be somewhere around 400 and 110
    This has only started happening since the move to the 3 mbps service.
    Maybe it's time to give Magnet a go...mind you "out of the frying pan into the fire"

    You were getting 2400 kb down, therefore it was working well for some time after getting 3Mb? So it has gone bad sometime since then? From when approximately? Where are you? I'm in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. My speeds were fine for a month or so after 3Mb upgrade - getting approx 2.1/2.3 down on irishisptest, but over the last 3 weeks or so it fluctuates terribly from about 600kb - 1.3/1.4 down and frequently disconnects and reconnects by itself.

    Does anyone else notice reduced speeds when other things are connected to the phone socket? i.e filters, sky digiboxes. I have to disconnect all these to get near 2Mb, is there any way aroung this?

    Right now, I'm getting

    Down: 675 kbps (84 KB/s)
    Up: 286 kbps (36 KB/s)

    It's usually
    Down: 2593 kbps (324 KB/s)
    UP: 320 kbps (40 KB/s)
    :(

    <edit>
    Rebooted the router, now up to
    Down: 2212 kbps (277 KB/s)
    Up: 316 kbps (40 KB/s)

    Bit better :)
    </edit>

    Yeah, it worked fine for a while but I've been away and only noticed it in the last week or so.
    I'm in Killester Dublin 5.
    Tried reseting the router a couple of times but ain't fixed it.
    Running on a imac G5 with 10.4.5. I did find out that the 10.4.5 software has
    a problem where the IPv6 tries to connect in auto and slows down the connection but if anyone has the same software installed there is a work around.
    Still though....esat BT 3mbps has obviously got problems somewhere.

    I should probably ring them and give out.....screw it though..i ain't got time to spend the next 3 hours on the phone to them with some gob****e trying to rework my prefs untill nothing works at all,then spending another 4 hours trying to rectify the problems they just caused.
    Not before breaking something purely through shear frustration (usually my foot kicking the F'n router out the back door!)
    I'm go'in to the pub!
