After Peoplefinder...

I remember reading somewhere (I think it was in Trinity News) that since Peoplefinder was gone, the only way to find people's e-mail addresses now was to use Ntserver I think it was. I know I can find out all of the usernames of students (and staff) using that, but is there anyway to find out what the actual name of the person so you have a better chance of finding the right username?
(ie. you want Joe Bloggs, there could be a John Bloggs in college too, so there would probably be usernames bloggsj and jbloggs, but the only way to know which is which is if you could find out the student's full name)

    Thank :)

Yes. Go My Network Places, Search Active Directory.

also, if you are looking for someone in your class, and your class uses WebCT you can find them through the email tool.

Log in to WebCT, open your course module, go to communication, and then email. Click to compose an email, and next to the To: box there is a browse button which will display a list of all the people who are in your WebCT grouping.
The list is alphabetical by surnames, and the email address is shown in brackets. In the case of the school of nursing and midwifery all nursing students 1st to 4th year are in the one webCT group, so its handy. dunno if it works the same for other schools.

Didn't the Hist set up a new peoplefinder sort of section on their website? I thought I remembered reading something in the Record about it

if bebo was a half decent site i'd agree, but its so wonky the only way to find people is through other people ye know or scroll through hundreds of pages....
