For all Dan Brown fans you will be pleased to hear that apparently he has signed film deals for Digital Fortress and Deception Point.

There is also a plan for Angels & Deamons however there are some legal difficulties given the fact that the Vatican will not allow any filming inside and also will not allow any filming of a reconstruction of any sort.

So it looks like we have a few more Dan Brown films on their way after TDVC

This movie will be very debateable. Its got Tom Hanks who, from the trailers, looks old and overweight.

Im looking forward to seeing da vinci code when its released. As for doing a movie version of Angels and Demons .. Im not so sure. I would however like to see the other 2 as movies. 3 very different books which IMO would work well in movie format

I have to say that when I first heard that Tom Hanks was going to be playing Robert Langdon, I was very disappointed. But then I saw the trailers and TH looks older than I had imagined him and fits the bill perfectly. He's greying, wrinklier and a bit heavier than in previous films.

I glad to hear about Deception Point and Digital Fortress being made into films as I've read all Dan Brown's books now. My favourite though was Angels and Demons. Hopefully the "red tape" will be sorted out and they start filming.

To be honest I doubt I'll ever read any of Dan Brown's books. Merely for the fact that it's become a "fashion" to have read them. And I hate reading books just because everyone else has read them.

Also there is the fact that its recently come to light that Dan Brown stole alot of his ideas from other writers.

Yet, its very rare that book-movie conversions actually come out well.. only real ones which have worked are Fightclub, Trainspotters, and Green Mile

How would they go about stopping the a recreation of the Vatican being constructed?

Its actually legally binding that the vatican cannot being reconstructed in full or any part!

But the comment about not reading Dan Brown as they are fashion items is ridiculous. If a book is good read it, dont ever think about anyone else and what they have read just enjoy them for what they are. Good books.

Maybe the Bible or Koran are just a passing phase.

    What a ridiculous comment!

I read The DaVinci Code before John Paul 2 urged people NOT to read it. Then everyone rushed to the stores to see what the controversy was all about.

I enjoyed TDVC so much I had to read the rest of Dan Brown's book. Not because of the ' "fashion" ' but because he's a damn good writer.

    fashion! *tut*

The book does exactly what it sets out to do... It's incredibly entertaining. It's as good a page turner as i've read in a long time, even if it's not a work of literary genius. The story should make for an exciting film.

In what country? Upheld by who? Does that mean The Pope Must Die was made illegally? Seriously, who fed you that line?

    But....he's not a good writer.

Still, they're entertaining books and would like to see Angels&Demons filmed.

Can't see how the Vatican would stop a reconstruction....Is it an international law or something??

What makes a good writer then? IMHO, a good writer is someone who keeps the reader wanting to read more.

Talking about the Vatican Laws on its reconstruction..... how can this law be upheld? And who says it's law? Lodgepole gave a good example in "The Pope Most Die". I haven't heard of Robbie Coultrane or Eric Idle or the film makers ever being prosecuted for this.

As for the conversion from paper to film, I read in Newsweek that Dan Brown himself is very happy with Ron Howard's version of the film.

jesus people don't attack the messneger.

according to an article in empire mag they were saying the delay in a&d was due to some sort of international law stating that the vatican cannot be recreated in full or any part.

I don't know more than that as it didn't go into any more detail.

    A google search

Do you remember the issue of Empire? I'd be curious to see where they sourced it from.

The book of the Da Vinci Code was cringeworthy. I think of it as the literary equivalent fo a hollywood movie, entertaining if you can turn your brain off. Dan Brown is not a good writer, if he was the book wouldn't read as a copy of his previous Angels and Demons which was far better.

Precisely why I enjoyed it so much. I don't always want to read complex intelligent novels, or indeed to watch complex intelligent films. Sometimes I want a rollercoaster which leaves me wanting more. I've heard the book copied the structure from his previous work, but that didn't effect the fantastic four or five days I spent reading The DaVinci Code.

well a mate described it best when he said its a holiday read, nothing more.

thing is thats what i want. ive read enough books that make you really think and some that try to change your perception of the world and that crap. At the moment I just want something to read enjoy it for what it is, put it down and say that was good!

ehhh would not be too mad bout digital fortress or deception point being made into a movie. most patronising POS ever! da vanci code wasn't bad, look forward to the movie and there is no way in hell that the vatican will ever allow them to film angels and demons there. ever.

There is no debate on whether the Vatican will let A&D be filmed there. That's definitely a no no. But it's the recreation of the Vatican that's being debated and in my opinion, there's no way the Vatican could prohibit a reconstruction of the Vatican.

I've had no luck with google trying to find information of vatican recreations (other than that they've happened) and Empire Online don't seem to have the article (unless it's buried in a larger feature).
