Rakeback Skins Cages DIY

A load of people seem to be offering rakeback deals and some even have set up their own skins so I'm guessing there is money to be made.
So whats the deal with it all, I presume a rakeback deal is more simple to set up than your own skin. Are they purely comisson based or do you have to pay a lumpsum startup fee?

I did a brief google search for setting up a skin and at least 1 company wanted $15000 to set up a skin. Is this the going rate or can some skins be set up comission only?

    There's different options available.

Ranging from $1000 to $80000/$100000 depending on your deal and your package, the operator in question and the service/support provided.
    That's the easy bit.

The real money and challenge is the cost of recruiting players and marketing, and then keeping them in a very competitive market.

The online poker industry is quite a saturated market, however, there seems to be many companies doing great business yet they offer a very poor product in comparison with other companies.

It's just a matter of educating the ignorant that they can get a better deal elsewhere as soon as they discover this, they will jump ship in a milisecond.

As Culchie says, it's then about customer retention. It will be interesting to see where the industry is in 10 years time - 80% RB offer will probably be the norm! ;)

I'd be suprised if there won't be a zero rake advert funded google-like site soon, with just blackjack roulette etc making the money.

Yeah Culchie has explained it perfectly.

The poker world is increasing by the day and the likes of PartyPoker/Poker Stars who started off 1st in the online poker market have reaped the benfits of thinking of the idea, thats why in 2006 - they're averaging 50,000 - 60,000 + online players simulataneously.

Actually, Party and Stars were latecomers in to the market. Planet Poker was the first, followed by Dutch Boyds infamous Pokerspot. When Paradise Poker came along, their superior software blew the compettion away for a while. Even though Planet got a head start on the market, they didn't keep up with the advances in software and their marketing was and still is virtually non exsistant. The aggresive marketing by Party and Stars is what gives them the lions share of the market now, and why some players think of them as the originators of online poker.

Culchie, are those deals on the lower end of $1000+ for your own skin or for a rakeback scheme - or are they the same thing?
