Bebo Flashboxes

I've recently discovered you can have youtube.com videos on your Flashbox on bebo.com by getting the Video ID of any video then adding it to this:
http://www.youtube.com/player.swf?video_id= and I was wondering if the same can be done with Google Videos?

In other words, I need to get a .swf URL for Google Vidoes.

    Anyone know how to?
    Or even if you can?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you know if you can use .flv files on Bebo flashbox?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭Diarmsquid

    Can anyone help? :(

Im pretty sure its .swf only.

Why dont you just try putting the link in yourself and see if it works rather than asking someone else to do it ? It's only a case of copypasting a link in.

does anyone else think those bebo flash boxes are annoying? A off button or mute button would be an idea!

If there is one you really hate you could always adblock it if you have the extension for Firefox (which everyone that has Firefox has)

Or you could create a filter for all .swf files by adding a filter *.swf

for you n00bs * is a wildcard meaning anything so that means that anything that has the .swf extension will be adblocked

You could download the file for PSP in google video (as MP4) and then upload it to youtube and then put it in the normal way.

I've expanded on that, and added *.bebo.* to my hosts file.

dear god yes. i keep forgetting about it, opening a profile in a new tab and then getting deafened by their annoying ten minute long video. there should definitely be a mute or pause button. of course thats far from the only problem. the other day they added a feature to search your school by year. if you select a year and then go to page 2, it goes back to your own year so you have to reselect the year every time you change the page. very annoying when you have 30 pages to look through

basically the site was designed by someone with very little coding experience and even less motivation to solve problems when they arise

Bebo is much easier and better to use then MySpace. Your average profile on my space is a page with lots of lame graphics and photos which make the page a terror to load, and then about 5-10 flash movies playing at once. Now, compare that to one flashbox on Bebo?

I completely agree that the background coding for Bebo is pretty poor, and they dont seem to plan how things should work. Several aspects of the site are a general nusiance due to the poor coding, and it takes WEEKS for them to get back to emails sent to them. I would of sent in suggestions but I feel they are entering into a big black hole somewhere.

Oh and Bebo's FlashBoxes are .SWF only.

Don't forget if you tab open a few profiles bebo has a **** fit and opens the saem profile in all the windows. Thoroughly badly designed website...

this is true but any video you upload to youtube.com gets converted to swf. i uploaded a .wmv the other day and look at it now

Yeah, that's my problem. I have the video uploaded on youtube but it far too slow and kept freezing, so I've uploaded it to Google Videos and it's much better.

Yeah, I've figured that out now. What I want to know is can you convert the Google Videos (.flv) into .swf just like youtbe convert .wmv into .swf like so:

you have to go into the source code. click view->source, then search for .swf. the video id is everything from
    /player.swf?

    to the "

the stick www.youtube.com in front of it and thats the video id.

    eg:

    http://youtube.com/ player.swf?video_id=lY1xzmrtbOQ&l=74&s=192F6CAE7606D306:8A51374783A7BCE6

    without the space of course

How come that does not work for me??

And another question about adblock and bebo flashboxes. How come Adblock Plus does not display the button over the flash that says Adblock and when you press on it it adds a filter??

OMG I just found out the answer to the question that I was asking

*.beboframe.* doesn't work for me but http://beboframe.com seems to do the trick :)

    Those fecking flashboxes... grrr??

I still didn't find out why Adblock doesn't give that nice friendly Adblock button above it though...

So I take it you can't have Google Videos on Bebo flasboxes then?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 7,396 Mod ✭✭✭✭**Timbuk2**

Well, we didn't solve that problem yet.

But the only thing I seem to be able to do is convert .flv files to .avi, but I do not know if that is any help or not

    You can do it here:
    http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

Select the tab for google video

Sorry for bumping this thread but at least I didn' start another one on bebo!

How come using the URL for youtube doesnt work on bebo anymore? For the past 6 or 7 videos on youtube, that I've been trying to put on bebo, it isn't working. It just has a black screen saying 'LOADING..' but doesnt load! anyone one else getting this problem? I'm using the exact URL plus I typed in the exact code. Has bebo stopped people from linking from youtube? Really annoying cos I don't have any videos to upload and I like to have a unique flashbox! ;)

Chances are that youtube is having ANOTHER attack. Unfortunately, it'll be back soon.

Anyone know how to make a flasbox which is made up of a load of your photos with music playing in the background? I seen it on someones account and would love to do one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭Diarmsquid

You have to do it with Windows Movie Maker, and then upload it.
