I got my Eos 350d and it's the job, got the kit lens with it. I am looking for a lens thats very good in low light (eg indoors in showjumping arena) it can be a fixed lens as I will be set up for jumps at right distance. don't want to bust the bank but have about €200-300 to spend. Any advice greatly appreciated....!! :)

You'll get a 50mm f/1.8 or even f/1.4 for that price. Do a search. This has been talked about before and someone posted a comparrison of the Canon f/1.4 versus f/1.8.

I have the Nikkor f/1.8 and I love it. It's quickly becoming one of my favourite lenses, in the right circumstances.

I'd go for the 1.8 and have a look at a remote switch (RS-60 E3) and tripod.

50mm 1.8 ,they're buttons compared to the other lenses and it's easier to learn your camera with a prime lense.

    what would you reccomend EireRoadUser?

I'm not a photographer ,but after buying the lenses i have I would still go out and buy a canon 50mm 1.8.
I bought a battery grip and a sigma 30mm 1.4 ,but the camera weighs nearly 2 kgs
I plan on buying a 50mm 1.8 soon and using my camera without the battery grip.50mm lense turns the canon 350D into take anywhere camera.
