Looking for some info (if anyone has it).

I am moving into a new house soon that's in an estate with a fibre optic network and will probably subscribe to magnet and all the stuff they offer. However, I am going to get a Mac Mini soon too and want to use it as a PVR. To do this I need one of those EyeTV gadgets, but there are 2 types. A digital one and an analogue one. Here are my questions:
    1. Does anyone know what the magnet settop box is like (what output connections does it have?)?
    2. Would I need to digital EyeTV or the analogue one?
    3. Does their settop function as a tuner (ie to change the channel can you just use the TV remote or do you need ot use the magnet box)?

I have registered with magnet and waiting to hear from them, but in the meantime if anyone has had experience with this stuff let me know.

    Sorry op, no info...

Does any one have a magnet subscription and if so whats the speed like?
All they say(and should be) or a disapointment?

If the set top box that magent provides has analogue outputs to connect to a TV which is 99% likely then all you need is an analogue tuner.

Google search for PVR and Mac mini's you should find guides or try the website of the eyetv hardware you mention they probably have a FAQ of their own.

Well I got magnet installed and the settop box outputs through scart to the TV, so its analogue. A Bit crappy that there is not digital option. However, there is an SPDIF out so the sound (including the radio stations) can be listened to digitally.

The box does the tuning too, so need a second one to watch and record at the same time (although the guy installing it said that they have a HDD recorder settop on the way, but didn't say when!!).

One more observation about the service is that their EPG doesn't work! When the menu is selected I get a long list of channels on the left and to the right of each should be the name of the current programme and the following programmes etc. but it just says "Service Unavailable"! I am going to give customer service a call about this. A bit crap that its not working.
