I bought an item from a power seller with 100% feedback.
In the description he said postage was $12.99 in the US 13.99 in canada and 19.99 for europe. He also has a webpage selling on his own which many powersellers do, and the price is usually cheaper on ebay.
The shipping price is for all 50 States. Shipping to Canada is sent by air mail and will cost $13.99. Shipping to Europe is $19.99.

In the same description it said
Payment Options: Money Order/Cashiers Checks ,PayPal
    Shipping Options: Fixed Shipping Charges.
    USPS Priority
    Shipping Rate: $12.98 (Domestic)
    $13.98 (International)

I will ship to: USA and Internationally
    Insurance Rate: $0.01
[Sales Tax]: 6% for in-state buyers

Down the bottom on what I consider the official shipping pricing, i.e. the automatic one that comes when you win it said.
Shipping, payment details and return policy
Shipping Cost Services Available Available to
US $12.98 Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service United States only
US $13.98 Standard Int'l Flat Rate Shipping Worldwide

    Will ship to Worldwide.

    Shipping insurance
    US $0.01 Required
    Sales tax
Seller charges sales tax for items shipped to: MI (6.000%).

So I presumed he just cut and pasted the 19.99 from his website. I checked his feedback on www.toolhaus.org and the negatives were from idiots, not his fault.

All is fine I win the bid and go to pay it immediately, the correct postage appears. I cannot pay due to irish broadband being a load of bollox and not supporting gmail or ebay properly. Then about 10 mins later the seller sends me an invoice with the 19.99 shipping stated!

I click on the original ebay one via the email or in ebay and this new 19.99 one appears every time.

Anyway went home to trusty eirom and I deducted $6 in the discount page on ebay, for some reason there was no box to enter a comment to the seller this time, I was going to say there must have been a mistake so I took off $6.

No reply from the seller about this yet. I thought it odd he had no negatives or neutrals about trying this little scam, he has close to 11,000 hits.

Anyways just be on the lookout!

Possible but not pointed out. Any seller with 11000 hits knows how to use ebay and would have the 2 options there.

I am not saying he is a blatant rip-off merchant. Just appears he may try this a bit and I would have expected to see neutrals because of it. Why would be go out of his way to send a second invoice when he knows ebay have sent one automatically.

    Here are the items.

TBH the most important thing is whats in the listing and not whats in the postage into down the bottom. he could have a set template. it wouldnt surprise me if he didnt post you the item until ya sent the 6 pound extra. plus its your own fault you noticed a contradiction so you should have emailed him to ask.

I would certainly disagree with that. I see what he entered at the time of entering details and the official invoice from ebay as being the correct one. AFAIK people can change the description after bidding as happened but cannot change the official postage.

If he had only listed the US postage at the bottom I would have emailed him. Fact is he TWICE posted the postage as being 13.99 to europe on the item, you can check the link I gave. If there was no postage listed at the bottom (which I always presume to be the real one) then I would have emailed him since it was 50/50 in his description.

The fact he had no negative or neutrals about it lead me to think it would be no problem.

So if I didnt notice the contradiction it would not be my fault???
If he said it was 13.99 forty times in the description and 19.99 once do you still think he should refuse to send me it until I pay up?

I am only trying to make people aware of this. I never knew that people could over-ride the first invoice with a second one, it is something I will look out for in future.

OK, simple really, ebay define international/worldwide as all other countries excluding the one it is based in.

If you click on the link I gave and if your ebay settings are the same as mine it will show that postage to IRELAND is 13.98

Confirmed sent by airmail, with a thank you and a copy of my paypal payment with the discount shown.

Didnt mention the -$6 at all. :)

I reckon he just chances it and would have refunded it claiming it was a mistake.
