    Cheap calls, 1cent a minute.
Wengo today published a Firefox extension
for its Wengophone. It comes in Mac, Linux and Windows versions and is
    available for download at http://www.wengo.com.
The Wengophone is a software tool from Wengo that allows you to
communicate free of charge on the Internet -- using Voice, SMS, Instant
    messaging and Video.
This extension, which is fully integrated in the Firefox Web browser,
features the key functionalities of the Wengophone -- telephone and chat --
and also enables click-to-dial, a technique that lets you use Wengo to call
any of your contacts, or any number on a web page, by launching a conversation
    with a single click.
Installing the extension is simple: once you have downloaded it using
Firefox 1.5, just drag it into the Firefox window and it will appear in the
    navigation bar.
Just like the Firefox browser, the Wengophone is the product of open
source development work, which has made it easier for the two technologies to
embrace each other. The Wengophone offers transparency and security for its
users in the way their communications are handled.
The availability of the Wengophone on Mac comes at a time of great
potential for the development of Firefox on Mac OS. In December 2005,
Microsoft announced that it was halting its development of the Internet
Explorer browser on the Mac platform.
This new market opens up huge growth opportunities for Wengo. With 700,000
people already signed up for its services, Wengo has seen its subscriber
numbers rocket over the last few months, not only in France, but also
elsewhere in Europe and in Asia.
As well as enabling free PC-to-PC calls, the extension also lets you call
landlines and mobile phones, both in France and abroad, at the most attractive
    rates on the market:

    * Calls to landlines at Euro 0.01/minute: France, USA, Canada,
Ireland, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, UK, Singapore, and
    Russia.
    * Calls to mobiles at Euro 0.15/minute for many destinations: Algeria,
Australia, Norway, South Africa, Tunisia, and UK.

Along with its unbeatable rates, Wengo is still one of the only operators
not to bill for connection charges.
The WengoPhone source code can be downloaded from a dedicated site for
    developers at http://www.openwengo.com.
