Has anyone else noticed how Sky One have increasingly butted in at the end of some shows lately (latest being at the end of Stargate Atlantis tonight) to advertise what is coming next while at the same time overriding the sound on the show you're watching. It's a real pain in the hole!

It's a very American thing to do. I find our TV is getting more and more American like lately. On RTE, ER starts and nearly immediatly the Ad break comes on. I love a lot of things about America, but their TV (not the shows because they do some of the best tv in the world) sucks!

oh US tv sucks with ads, so many "commercial breaks"

best example here is abc1, why have an ad break only to come back to the credits, ive noticed abc then gos to the next show instantly, but in the US its another ad break again.
I remember sky one always were like that for ads, especially when the x-files is on, only started then ads
Wish every channel was like the BBC tbh

   I cant believe that Sky did that to Atlantis, I really wanted to watch that bit, and they feckin ruined it with that god-damn "next on sky..."

Oh, and I am sure you noticed those little banners that often pop up on the bottom of the screen during the program, with the Sky one "e".

Yes, if only all TV could be without ads, the same goes for websites and some software *cough* msn *cough*

Was annoyed about this on Atlantis last night myself. The good news is one of the repeats over the next week will probably be promo-free so can catch the last bit then.

I also was watching Star Gate Atlantis, and was very pissed off!
Thanks for the sky feedback link, I just left them a comment!

Thanks for that link. I have just complained...

I think it's devices like Sky+ that are causing this... Sky knows that many people are not watching during the ad breaks, ir even the credits...

    No excuse though....

    Ix.

Yup, noted this last night - it is very very annoying.

Mind you, it does not bother me nearly as much as missing an episode of Futurama because they have decided we should be watching SkyNews Ireland instead - is this the only way they can get their ratings up?

When I see Oprah on TV3 the amount of ad breaks that she takes is unbelievable, good job tv3 edit em out. But the worst thing is at the end she says 'we'll take a break' and after the break says 'i'd like to thank my guests, goodbye' lol. How stupid is that.

Last weekend many Sky One shows had a solid bottom third strap overlaid for about 15 seconds during the programme to advertise Sky's coverage of the Oscars. Bloody annoying.
