    Can anyone recommend a good (freeware) editor. I am doing some PHP coding at the mo so would like some features such as syntax colouring etc...

    gvim 6.3 has syntax colouring for loadsa languages, if you're familiar with vi

    And if you're not familiar with vi, you can use vim anyway,
    with the cream frontend.

    It takes away the modes, but keeps all the other powerful features intact.

    HTMLKit is very good, too many features to list but it's definitly worth a look.
