    I always taught newsgroups were, but someone today told me torrents were :rolleyes:

    If you're downloading music, perhaps you could pay at least a small amount towards it. The www.allofmp3.com and www.mp3search.ru sites are in a very grey area: the RIAA claim they're illegal, but the law says they're not. So if you download from them, at least some of th emoney goes back to the artists (probably), and they're ridiculously cheap.

    they are all perfectly "safe", unless one is downloading coprighted material.

    In that case, neither are as the appropiate bodies are investigating newsgroups too.
