okay, so i got my tongue pierced about...two weeks ago, its fine exept there is yellow stuff at the top (around the hole of the piercing, its changes from liquidish to solid) its not plaque, i dont know if its pus or not, but my main concern is is it infected, i know it isnt a medical board but if anyone knew the symptoms of an infected tongue? i dont really have the time, or money to visit the doctor. same with a piercer i dont have the time. i looked it up on google and i cant find it. i would really really appreciate help

    thanks

Keep doing salt rinses and it should clear up in a few days

Nah it dosnt sound infected to me. The yellow / green puss is part of the healing process, it'll go away within a week or so. Get yourself a bottle of Corsodyl mouthwash from any chemist and rinse out a couple of times a day. Make sure you dilute it half water first.

ive been doing the salt thing (its getting harder, it dosnt hurt, despite what people have told me, but it tastes horrible, i can no longer do it without retching) and ive been using Oral B, it was the only one in boots at the time that i could see, that was non-alcoholic.
i have a different one now as the oral b is nerly gone, its a pinky colour...not sure of the name....

but thanks for the help :)

eh, I never used saline solution to heal my tongue piercing either. tastes like crap that does.
I just used mouthwash and diluted it halfy with water, healed up in no time.
Just keep it up and you'll be fine, doesn't sound like too much to worry about.

Yeah thats exactly what happened to mine, happens if you eat anything dairy based apparently but prob just happens anyway. When they remove the bar u can remove all the gunk from it, but til then I'd just stick with the non alco mouth wash!

I got the yellowy stuff ur talking about when i got mine done and it was part of the healing process. I went back to the piercer and he said its really common. Its grand now tho. It took about a month to go away. I bought the mouth wash from celestial ring even tho I didn't get it pierced there and it worked perfectly! iI it ever hurts, take nurofen cos it stops swelling and suck merocets as they numb the area. I can now leave my bar out 4 a couple of months and it won't close! Does anyone know is that strange??

yeah, i was told it was okay when i went to get a shorter barbell.

Yes, we must be very careful with our tongues. They are so sensitive and a very important part of taste. Is your tongue sensitive to citrus, especially something like strawberries?
