Mods, i know this is in the wrong place but i just thought i would get a quicker response here......if you want to move it, feel free!

I'm considering going back to college in September. I did a 2 year cert in DIT a few years ago but i want to go back and do computers now. I was just wondering would anybody have any idea what the fee's will be?

    Cheers

Dont know if this applys to you but non-eu students pay around 10000euro a year.

As long as you didn't fail a year you will still have your fees paid for. Of course registration fees have shot up these last few years, so depending on the college you could still be looking at €500 to a grand.

A friend of mine was telling me that she was almost positive that i would have to pay full fee's instead of just registration fee's because i will be doing a different course instead of a continuation of my first course

You will have to pay the capitation (€775/year in DIT) no matter what.

The government pay the rest of the fees for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/etc year of a diploma/cert, and 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/etc year of a degree. So basically if you do a degree, you will just have to pay the capitation every year. If you do another cert or a diploma, you will have to pay the full fees for the first 2 years. I know the full fees for computing in DIT are about €3,000/year. Hope this helps!

Why? Do a degree and it will only be €775/year

My mum rang them yesterday while i was in work and was told that if i do a cert it will be €1175 a year plus registration fees, but if i do a diploma or degree i will just have to pay registration fees!

OP: You do have to pay full fees if you didnt finish the course. You pay the fees for the time you were in the other course and then free fees after that.

For example I did a year and a half in GCD.
Now I m in UCD and I pay 4500 a year for the time I was in GCD.
The secong half of 2nd year and 3rd year im in Free Fee territory

I assume the government does not have any thing to do with the cost of a masters. But while this thread is here might as well make sure...

    Any one know for sure?

I finished the course originally in DIT, it was a two year course. I'm now looking at going back to do another course!
