Sigh... this is a gigantic waste of everyones time but if we don't do it we risk being run over by idiot politicians and having noone put forward our points of view.

I've set up an entire forum over on antesup for the discussion of this latest declaration of intent by the minister and given the Cavendish debacle I think its important we are prepared.

Anyone is welcome to be involved but I'm particularly keen that people like Fintan, Connie, Nicky, Mike and others who represent card rooms and poker tournies are involved so that we have a unified face and speak with one voice.

You can find the forum here.

    Tom.

Is it a players association or a tournament organisers association?

Right now the two are aligned but yes, there will have to be two halves or two separate organisations. This is the players association and will be from the players point of view, however we need the involvement of the whole industry and the weight of the main forces in that industry to be taken seriously.

What we need is a players association and a sub committee/steering group with members from the industry.

Or an Irish Poker Association consisting of a players association and an operators assoc. Anyway we look at this, they are two sides of the same coin. Right now, we have one common enemy though or none of us will be playing. :)

I dont think McDowell wants to shut down card clubs, more so do something about the money casinos make from bj and roulette tables. Could the Fitz and the Merrion operate with poker only ?

lads the mad mulla doesn't give a flying f about cards etc he after the possible money laundering possibilities in casio's by players and indeed by provo's etc seting up casio's. If and I mean if there was some way that the casino's could comply or at least attempt to comply with money laundering rules I recon he would f off to look for more provo's under the bed/stone etc.
