Moral question

    Hi,
Just looking for an opinion if I may.

Person x suffers from really bad (almost constant) pain due to arthritis. the only relief is from pain medication. (Oxycontin) This persons doctor says that no more pain medication can be given until there is a blood test done, due to person in question previously suffering from anaemia. Doctor has requested person to go to doctors office for blood test, but person cannot do this as they are bed ridden and have not been out of bed for about 3 months.
We have requested doctor to visit person and do the blood test at the persons home. They advise that they will, but are very busy, and cannot say when they might have a chance to visit.

In the meantime, person X is almost in tears with the pain, taking every over the counter medication they can to try and releive the agony. Its not succeeding.
Is this morally right? Is the doctor justified to deny the medication until they are able to do a house call? I understand the importance of the blood test, but I really feel there should be another way round this.
    thanks.

Is there any way the local health board can send out a nurse to take the blood? I don't really know how the health boards work but can the doctor request this?

Pretty rediculous that person x should be in pain when treatment is pretty straightforward IMHO.
