Sky card question

Hi, I bought a second hand digibox from England on ebay to replace a broken one in my parents house - sky subscription long expired. It doesnt have a sky card but picks up BBC, ITV etc. Would there be any benefit to having a sky card - i.e. more channels available?

the sky card from previous digibox is on missing list, if found could it be used with "new" box or is it redundant in any case?

Have a sister based in England if that makes any difference as regards getting an English card. :)

A UK FTV ('Freesat' or expired subs) card will decrypt Channel 4, five and Sky 3 so you may consider it worth the £20 it'll cost (your sister could buy one using her address).

AIUI, an expired Irish subs card decrypts Sky Three only.

All BBC and ITV channels are now FTA - no card required.

Also with Irish Sky card all BBC radio and most of BBC TV and all of ITV vanishes.
